Bee produces killer run

Fastest time of year in Future Champion final

-

THE FINAL of the Red Mills Future Champion Unraced Stake at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track last week saw a brilliant run from the impressive Killer Bee, recording the fastest time of the year - a superb 28.71 (-40 slow).

As predicted, it was the Comerford brothers’ runners who dominated the final, as Jazz Beat set the early fractions but Killer Bee was in a very prominent position turning into the back straight a few lengths off Jazz.

The writing was on the wall from there as Killer Bee put in a storming run to grab the lead at the third bend and put the final to bed quickly, going on to beat Jazz Beat by four and a half lengths for owners Peter Comerford and Tony Moore from Naas, Co. Kildare.

Killer Bee will now head for the Comerford Cakes Puppy Stakes at Shebourne Park in the coming weeks.

The Plate final saw a disappointment for the same connections as their impressive long odds-on favourite, Manuka Man, found trouble and was only able to finish fourth in the end behind the snug winner Shaky Dog.

The victor is improving with every run, scoring his second win from four outings and recording his best time yet of 29.32 (-40 slow).

Well done to Red Mills for their great sponsorship again this year of this stake which is now a well recognised nursery for future stars.
