Coolgreany 45 CARD DRIVE

A very successful 45 Card Drive is ongoing in the Coolgreany Inn each Friday night at 8.30 p.m. Everyone is very welcome to come along for a good night of craic at the cards, and some lovely finger food thrown in for good measure.

COOLGREANY TIDY TOWNS

Congratula­tions to the residents of Croghan View and Croghan Close, who picked up a prestigiou­s award in the Talbot Hotel on last Friday night for having the whole estate looking so well, clean and litter-free. A few extra hands would make a huge difference, best wishes to all those involved.

COMMUNITY ALERT

The local Community Group are reminding all members of our community to look out for all senior members of our community who may be living alone and might need some one to help with getting their every day need, or a small but of company for a while during the day. A small bit of concern for others goes a long way to help take away the stress and worries of many people who feel they are left alone in life.

There was no jackpot winner in the Ballygarre­tt Réalt na Mara GAA Club blotto draw on November 12. The numbers picked were 3, 6, 28 and 30. CRAANFORD DRAMA GROUP

‘Don’t Tell the Wife’ by Sam Cree will be presented by Craanford Drama in Craanford Community Centre on November 21, 22, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. nightly. Admission €10 for adults and €5 for children. Booking on the door, so arrive early to avoid disappoint­ment.

Don’t Tell the Wife is set in the Willis household in Belfast. Edna Willis suspects her husband Bobbie, who just happens to be about to turn 50 of having an affair. Acting on the advice of her good friend she decides to take in a lodger. Problems arise for Edna when the Lodger she takes in is a French female student. Coupled with that she also happens to be a Catholic. The play turns into a real belly laugh when Edna takes the next step and hires a male escort to make her husband jealous. As events unfold, a few more colourful characters and a greyhound called Bridget enter the mix to leave the audiences rolling in their seats with laughter.

The cast includes Maria McCann, Margaret Nolan, Pat Berney, Ger Doran, Paula Darcy, Séamus Burnell, Patrick Lennon and Hannah Doyle and is directed by Brendan Doyle. The play will be staged.

The AGM season is nearly upon us, it’s your club so come and have your say. The adult AGM will be held in Monaseed hall on Sunday, December 9, at 6 p.m. all nomination­s and motions to be with club secretary by December 2 the underage AGM in the sports complex on Friday, November 23, at 8 p.m. while the camogie AGM will be held after this at 9 p.m. also in the sports complex. All nomination­s and motions should now have been submitted.

KilanerinB­allyfad GAA CLUB NEWS

There was no jackpot winner in the lotto jackpot. But there were two match-three winners who get €100 each. The numbers were 3, 19, 22 and 27. The next two draws take place on November 19 and 30.

Both the floodlight­s and walking track lights are in operation at the clubhouse.

Well done to the organisers of the dinner dance and presentati­ons to previous adult teams. Always a good night.

The club AGM took place last Friday. A report next week. The camogie AGM takes place in the Rock hall on Wednesday the 21st at 8.30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Both the under-20 hurling final replay, and the under-20 football quarter final were postponed.

A last reminder about the underage celebratio­n and presentati­ons which takes place in the Sports Hall on Sunday the 25th at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2.30 p.m. A great hour or two to acknowledg­e the efforts of the players and mentors. There is much to celebrate. Everyone welcome.

Kilanerin Tidy Towns had great success on Monday last at Wexford County Council annual Enviornmen­t Awards Ceremony 2018. The Elms won the Best Presented Housing Estate – for the third time; North Wexford 2K Clean: Second Place Kilanerin Tidy Towns, Joint first Place Rathpierce; with Kilanerin Tidy Towns winning Best Overall Entry. Congratula­tions to all volunteers for their hard work which is much appreciate­d and admired.

FIREWOOD AUCTION – THANK YOU

Ballyfad Hall committee wish to thank all who supported their Firewood Auction. A special thank you to those who donated the timber, those who cut, split and delivered all the trailer loads. Thanks to Kilanerin Hall committee for the use of their premises and to auctioneer Jim Bushe. A total of €6,400 was raised, a very successful event despite the dreadful weather.

TaraHill REMEMBRANC­E MASS

A beautiful Remembranc­e Mass for the deceased of the area was held in St Kevin’s church on Wednesday night, November 14. Thank you so much to Fr Flynn, all who took part in the Mass and helped out in any way. Also to Michelle, who so beautifull­y sang in the church, Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families at these difficult times. May they all rest in peace.

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE
