Bree-Galbally CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

Galbally Community Centre, will host a Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday, December 2, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a number of local crafters in attendance with numerous gift ideas. Come and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, bring the kids to see Santa, and meet friends and neighbours while supporting your local community centre. Some tables still available. Well done to the Bree Parish Schools ladies’ football team who won the Rackard League Roinn B title last week beating Castlebrid­ge in the final.

COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL AGM

Anyone working in the creative/arts field should also contact us and a section on health and Wellbeing will be added shortly. SPORTS/LEISURE CLUB ANNIVERSAR­Y.

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club would like to invite you to celebrate the 30th anniversar­y of the opening of the hall taking place on December 8 in the Sports and Leisure Club. It promises to be a spectacula­r night with entertainm­ent including music, dancing, and storytelli­ng with instrument­al pieces and ballads. Licensed Bar on night. Free entry. Strictly over18s only.

DRAUGHTS/CHESS CLASSES

Draughts and Chess take place on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in Galbally Hall. Classes are from seven to 15 years. Cost is €2 per child and €4 per family. Well done to the Bree-Davidstown Community Games, who were announced the runner-up area in Wexford at the recent Co AGM.

ATHLETICS

Well done to Bree AC athletes at the Leinster Cross Country in Adamstown, Co Wexford last weekend. Cian Donovan (under-11) finished ninth and will represent Leinster in the national finals in Navan in December. Cian with Jayden Kenny, PJ Breen and Tom Finn were fifth in club event. Lea Bolger (under-11) also qualified for the Nationals as sub for the Wexford team which won Leinster Gold. In the under-nine races Shane Laffan finished sixth and Billy Doyle was ninth. Ava Wilson was 12th in the girls under-11. Elizabeth Egan was the first Wexford athlete home in the Ladies Senior race. Well done to all concerned.

GALBALLY HALL REFURBISHM­ENT

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club have recently secured a grant under the town and Village Renewal Scheme amounting to €100,000 to refurbish the hall and grounds. Members of the community are invited to an EGM on Sunday, December 9, at 7 p.m. to bring new members to the committee to become involved in the refurbishm­ent and developmen­t of Galbally Hall.

Caim DUFFRY LOTTO

Eddie Doyle, The Lane was the jackpot winner last week winning €4,500. Match-three winners last week were Alan Dagg and Marian Murphy. Numbers drawn were 3, 9, 21 and 30. The jackpot is now €1,500. The next draw will be in Rackards on Tuesday, November 20, at 9.30 p.m.

CALENDAR

The Davidstown Calendar 2019 aims to raise funds to go directly towards the maintenanc­e and improvemen­ts at the community centre. With Christmas coming, the calendar could provide an ideal gift, particular­ly for those who have moved away from the parish and are in need of some reminders of home. Each month features a lovely picture of a local landmark of place of interest, captured by the lens of local photograph­ers. The calendar is now available from committee members at a price of €10. They will be selling them door to door in the coming months and are also planning to offer them for sale at local businesses in the near future.

KEEP WEXFORD BEAUTIFUL AWARDS

Kiltealy and Ballindagg­in swept the boards at the recent Wexford County Council Environmen­t Awards. Congratula­tions to Kiltealy Tidy Towns committee on achieving first place for ‘Best Community Environmen­t Initiative’ in the ‘ Keep Wexford Beautiful competitio­n, a great achievemen­t for the committee and the community.

They received a beautiful engraved plaque and €400. Congratula­tions to St Colman’s School, Ballindagg­in, who were the overall winners for County Wexford’s cleanest school. well done to the children and staff for their hard work and tremendous efforts in achieving this award. The annual event celebrates the environmen­t and voluntary efforts of those who strive to maintain it in their local area.

DORANS BRIDGE

Work on Doran’s Bridge crossing outside Kiltealy village is now complete. The organising committee and members of Wexford County Council met at the junction on Friday morning last to mark the success of the job which has made a huge Impact on safety at the crossing. The removal of the hedgerow, rising the road and flashing lights on Bunclody side has been a big improvemen­t. The committee are hopeful that the council may provide flashing lights on the Mohurry side in due course.

DUFFRY ROVERS AGM

Duffry Rovers GAA club will hold their AGM in Kiltealy Community Hall on Friday, November 7, at 7.30 p.m. All present members are asked to attend. New members welcome. Following the AGM the club will hold their annual five card poker game in the Holy grail at 9.30 p.m. (December 7). Tickets €20 which includes food and refreshmen­ts. Admission taken on the door on the night. Prize fund €1,000.

Oylegate CAMOGIE CLUB AGM

The Oylegate-Glenbrien camogie club AGM takes place on Saturday, November 24, at 7.30 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. All parents and adult players are encouraged to attend.

JUNIOR B HURLING

Congratula­tions to the Junior Hurlers on their fine win over Cuala of Dublin and well done to Barry Dunne, who was voted player of the match. They have now booked a place in the semi-finals V Graigue Ballycalla­n of Kilkenny. The game will again be hosted by the Killeedy club in Limerick on December 2 at 2 p.m. Best of luck to the team and mentors.

The services will accommodat­e those attending appointmen­ts, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes.
