Shamrocks launch fundraiser amid ambitious plans for future

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

SHAMROCKS GAA Club have launched a new fundraiser to help with ambitious plans to expand and improve their facilities. The club are hoping that they’ll have the lucky numbers as they offer people the opportunity to join their syndicate. Each entrant will be included in weekly Irish Lotto and Euro-millions draws and they will also be included in the model county draw. As well as this, two prizes of €50 will be given out each month.

Committee member John Hendrick says that the fundraiser has already garnered some great interest in the local community and the first draw will take place on January 4, meaning people will have to get their skates on if they want to be included. Those interested in taking part are asked to contact any committee member as soon as possible and they might just find themselves on the receiving end of a big win.

Big plans are currently in the pipeline for Shamrocks GAA Club which include building a new indoor arena with a hurling wall, providing extra fencing for the pitches and installing a fully lit walking track.

‘ There are big plans for a lot of houses to be built at this side of town in the next few years,’ John explained. ‘Basically, we want to be ready for the influx of under-age players that will come with that and we want to make sure we have the best facilities possible.’ The club are hoping the syndicate will be a great fundraiser and that they might just see a big lotto win, to go with their ambitious plans.
