Speaking to this newspaper the couple’s son, Charles Jnr, said it was a great event that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
‘We just decided to have a party in the house here,’ said Charles Jnr.
‘It was a good night and we were very happy with the turnout of peo- ple,’ he added.
Charles spent all his life working locally as an agricultural worker and is a popular member of the Ferns bowling club.
Mary was a talented camogie player in her youth and she still has a very healthy interest in various different sports today - including being an avid fan of Liverpool FC.
She also likes watching sports events on television and has a particular interest in hurling, football and soccer.
When she was younger Mary used to work in McEvoy Solicitors, however, she gave that up when she settled down to raise the family.

Everyone present got to enjoy lovely food and a cake especially made for the occasion.
The family acknowledged the friends and neighbours who joined in the celebrations which made it all the more enjoyable for Mary and Charles.
