Pilgrimage
The destination for this year’s St Aidan’s Parish Pilgrimage has been decided as Medjugorje.
The trip will also include a one-day stop over at the beautiful and historic Dubrovnik.
The proposed dates for the pilgrimage are Monday, September 30, to Saturday, October 5.
These dates are only approximate at the moment and the cost of the trip will be announced at a later date.

Parish envelopes
friends of St Aidan’s and parishioners who have not received their parish envelopes for 2019 can do so by calling into the parish office.
Anyone interested in becoming a ‘Friend of St Aidan’s’ and contribute to the parish and priests’ envelopes are also invited to call into the parish office.
Recovery College
The Spring 2019 timetable for the Recovery College South East is now available and enrolment forms to participate in a workshop can be had by contacting 086 1746330 or be email to recoverycollegesoutheast@gmail.com.
The workshops are for everyone and are based around mental health awareness and support. The workshops are free-of-charge and are based around well-being and recovery.
The workshops are co-produced and co-delivered by people who have lived experience in conjunction with professional experts.
The college used an educational approach to develop and enhance people’s overall sense of well-being.
Whistdrive
The next whist drive takes place at St Anthony’s Unit at the CWCW on Friday, February 8, and Friday 22, getting under way at 8 p.m.
The cost of admission is €5 on the night and tea will be served.
Everyone in the community is welcome to attend and in particular new players are invited to come along and try it out something different for the New Year.

Enniscorthy 10krun
The countdown is well and truly on for the annual Enniscorthy 10k run which takes place on Sunday, February 10.
The event, staged by Slaney Olympic, is sponsored by Creane and Creane and will see a range of prizes up for grabs including €250 for first man and woman back, €250 course record bonuses and prizes for first under-20, over 40, 50, 60, and 70.
There will also be a €200 prize for the first men’s and women’s teams-of-four with €100 for the second placed finishers.
Race registration is at the Shamrock’s GAA Club in Clonhaston and the race is due to begin at midday.
Registration and pack pick- up will be from 9.30 a.m. at the clubhouse and the prize-giving takes place in St Senan’s School afterwards.

Lourdes pilgrimage
This year’s Ferns Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place between May 11 and 16.
The five-night trip will be led by Bishop Denis Brennan along with Pilgrimage Director, Fr Matt Boggan and Spiritual Director, Fr Brian Broaders.
Applications for the invalid section are now available from the parish office and the closing date for submission of completed applications is March 1.
Booking arrangements for able-bodied pilgrims is through direct application to Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours, who can be contacted through 01 2410802.
A booking form can also be obtained from the parish office which can then be posted in.
People, who book online through joewalshtours.ie can avail of a €10 discount per person.

Grow meetings
The community support group, Grow, holds regularly weekly sessions in the Presentation Centre in Enniscorthy.
The sessions are free, confidential and open to everyone with no referral or prior booking required.
The meetings take place on Mondays at 2 p.m.
Accessto church
Drivers are asked to refrain from parking at any time in the church gateway at St Aidan’s Cathedral as emergency and delivery access is always required in the event that urgent car park access is needed.
The parish office opening hours are: Monday to Friday (10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and on Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Hope volunteers
The Hope Cancer Support Centre is seeking volunteers to work in their centre on Wafer Street in addition to able-bodied volunteers for the organisation’s Charity Shop on Millpark Road, on Tuesday afternoons.

SisterAct
Enniscorthy Musical Society has confirmed that it will be staging the cult classic, ‘Sister Act’, at Coláiste Bríde from April 22 to April 27.
Rehearsals are now under way for what looks set to be a fantastic magical production.

The society is renowned for the quality of its productions and the forthcoming show looks set to enhanced that reputation even further.

IslaGrant concert
Renowned singer/songwriter Isla Grant will make a welcome return to Enniscorthy this coming Thursday, February 7, when she performs in the Riverside Park Hotel.
The concert is being staged as part of her current Yellow Rose tour.
The singer has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues and has completed numerous successful world tours in recent years and she always goes down well in Co Wexford.
This week’s show will feature all her hit songs and a few more recently recorded numbers as well.

Slaney Valleyrace
The countdown is now on for the Slaney Valley Adventure Race which takes in Bree on February 16.
The race will see competitors battle it out on bikes, in kayaks on the Slaney, and finishing with a nice brisk run around Bree Hill.
There will be some great prizes up for grabs in respect of those who record the quickest times and it looks like it will be a great event.
There is great interest in these types of events which are becoming very popular all around the country.
The cost of entry is €50 with different rates available for teams.

Johnny McEvoyshow
One of Ireland’s foremost songwriters and veteran entertainers will make a welcome return to Co Wexford on February 27.
Johnny McEvoy will perform at the Riverside Park Hotel for what promises to be a very special show.

Retirement groupAGM
The annual general meeting of Enniscorthy Active Retirement Association will take place this afternoon, Tuesday, February 5, at 2.30 p.m.
The meeting will be held in the Riverside Park Hotel.
Membership renewals are now due and new members are welcome to join.
There will be a number of items discussed at this afternoon’s meeting including the proposed trip to Salou in Spain, which is scheduled to take place in September.
Names are now being taken and a booking deposit of €150 is required at today’s meeting from those interested in going on the trip.
The association is one of the busiest in the county and among the regular, ongoing initiatives member enjoy are: Monday – Line dancing at 11 a.m. at Astro Active Centre; Indoor bowls at 1 p.m. at Astro Active Centre and, weather permitting, pitch and putt at 10 a.m. – and also at the same time on Friday; Tuesday is the monthly bus or walk or lunch; Wednesday – walk at 11 a.m. from Riverside Hotel; a table quiz takes place at 2.30 p.m. every second Wednesday at Loreto Village; Thursday – Ramblers’ walk at 9.30 a.m. from Lidl car park and craft sessions at 2 p.m. at the Astro Active Centre.
CivilDefence
Wexford Civil Defence is now recruiting new members in the Enniscorthy area.
The organisation is a great way to learn a variety of new skills in addition to being active in community events.
Training sessions will take place in Enniscorthy on Monday nights from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
The training will include first aid, CFR, FAR, EFR, search skills, rescue communications and swift water response.
