Forde’s fine focus earns sixth position

GER FORDE of Slaney Olympic placed sixth in the All-Ireland Intermedia­te cross-country championsh­ips in Dundalk recently.

Kilmore’s Jackie Carthy placed second Over-45 in the Masters women’s race, and twelfth overall. Ann Sullivan (D.M.P.) was fourth Over-55.

In the Masters men’s race, Jim Stafford (Slaney Olympic) was second Over-55 (71st overall), Ger Moloney (St. Paul’s) was fifth Over-55 (99th overall), while David Barron (S.O.) was 15th Over-50 (102nd overall).

Other results: Billy Reck (S.O.), 21st Over-50 (117th overall); David Kehoe (S.O.), 23rd Over-50 (119th overall); Ted Flannelly (United Striders), 24th Over-50 (123rd); Pat O’Callaghan (U.S.), 30th Over-50 (138th overall); Michael O’Flaherty (Kilmore), 14th Over-45 (155th overall); Nicky Foley (Kilmore), 45th Over-40 (192nd overall); Matt Flannelly (U.S.), 18th Over-55 (194th overall); Gavin Kelly (U.S.), 57th Over-50 (208th overall).

In the Juvenile ‘B’ cross-country, Éabha Keane (D.M.P.) was eleventh in Under-11 girls.

Wexford’s top performer in Under-13 girls was Aoife Walsh (D.M.P.) in twelfth, while Katy Foley (Kilmore) placed 65th.

Kate O’Flaherty (Kilmore) was 17th in Under-15 girls, while Erinn Shannon (U.S.) was delighted with her fifth place in the girls’ Under-17 race.

Conor Keane (D.M.P.), no doubt a little leg-weary from the schools cross-country event in Carlow the previous Thursday, was twelfth in the boys’ Under-17 race.

In the Under-14 boys’ relay there was team gold for the United Striders team of Myles Hewlett, Eoin Shannon, Cosmo Hewlett and Aidan Kehoe. In the same race the club’s ‘B’ team placed seventh, while their Under-12 team finished sixth.
