HOOK LIGHTHOUSE PLAYS HOST TO INFLUENTIAL CHINESE VISITORS
THE lucrative Chinese tourist market is being tapped into by Hook Lighthouse who have just welcomed a large group of Chinese visitors.
After much preparation and hard work by the Hook Lighthouse team to attract new visitors from the Asian tourism market, the attraction welcomed its first large group of Chinese visitors.
Over recent months, the tourist attraction’s management team have been working hard behind the scenes to attract new large groups of international visitors to the attraction and they have now received bookings from one of the most successful Chinese tour operators, Rachel Sunshine.
The visit by the group last week was a huge success and the large group of Chinese visitors declared Hook Lighthouse to be their favourite attraction following their tour. The group of 36 students and five leaders from Beijing No35 Middle School enjoyed lunch with a guided tour of the medieval tower and games on the lawn for the students. The group’s feedback was that it was the highlight of the trip with a special mention for the Hook seafood chowder.
Ready to greet them upon arrival was Billy Byrne, Head of Tourism at Wexford County Council and Ann Waters, General Manager at Hook Lighthouse. Ms Waters said: ‘We are delighted to see our meetings with large group tour operators paying off. This tour experience was an enormous success and we hope that it will be the first of many trips to the Hook peninsula and surrounding area for the Chinese market from our friends in Rachel Sunshine, Tour operators for the Chinese market. Much strategic work has been ongoing at Hook Lighthouse over the last number of years and it is all paying dividends.’
