MEANSCOIL GHARMAN EYEING MOVE TO NEW SITE AT ST SENAN’S
MEANSCOIL Gharman could be on the move to a new site adjacent to the St Senan’s building in Brownswood if plans by the school and the site owner, Eamonn Galvan, are realised.
The school Principal, Nora Harpur, along with Mr Galvan and Cllr Paddy Kavanagh met with the Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh TD, to discuss the matter last week.
The meeting took place when the minister visited Creagh College in Gorey.
Prior to the meeting, when speaking to this newspaper, Cllr Kavanagh said the proposal would be discussed with the minister and it’s expected a planning application will lodged over the coming months that will have the planned relocation of the Meanscoil as an intrinsic part of it.
‘It would make perfect sense in a lot of ways because it’s an ideal location for it,’ said Cllr Kavanagh.
‘When the new road is built there will be very good access to the site from all sides,’ he added.
The latter point was also something Ms Harpur commented on and said that because the schools serves the county and not just the im- mediate Enniscorthy area the development of the new by-pass and link roads would make the St Senan’s site an ideal location for a new Meanscoil complex.
It would also enable to the school to cater for an increase in pupil numbers.
