CREDIT UNION GETS IN ON THE (SISTER) ACT!
ENNISCORTHY Credit Union is getting behind this year’s production of Sister Act which will be staged by Enniscorthy Musical Society in Coláiste Bríde in April.
It will be the 46th annual production staged by the society and everyone involved is very excited about it.
The society is delighted to have the credit union on board again this year as its main sponsor.
The organisation has supported the society for over 10 years now and a spokesperson commented: ‘Shows just cannot be staged without the support of local businesses and the continued support of the credit union along with the other sponsors is gratefully received.’
For the forthcoming show the society has retained last year’s production team of Imelda McDonagh (director), Kevin Kennedy (musical director) and Ann Marie Cooney (choreographer) who were instrumental in bringing the society to AIMS (Association of Irish Musical Societies) acclaim with the production of All Shook Up.
Ashley Doran (who will play Deloris) received the runner-up award in the Best Comedienne category and James Dobbs (who will play T. J.) won the Best Comedian category.
The society also competed in the AIMS Choral festival last year and won the cameo competition.
For any organisation to last 46 years is a major achievement but in the case of Enniscorthy Musical Society it’s a case of going from strength-to-strength.
Last year’s show was very well received by audiences and it’s hoped that Sister Act will prove even more popular.
Speaking about the ongoing sponsorship, Áine Doyle, Marketing Officer of Enniscorthy Credit Union said the society is embedded in the cultural heart of Enniscorthy.
‘Enniscorthy Musical Society is an organisation close to everyone’s heart in the Enniscorthy area and beyond because of the highly professional musical productions they put on for our entertainment each year,’ she said.
‘It is a very highly regarded organisation that we know our members are happy to support,’ she added.
Ms Doyle encouraged everyone in the community to go along and support the show when it’s staged in Coláiste Bríde from Tuesday, April 23, to Saturday, April 27.
