Hospice event raises money over a coffee
THE annual coffee morning held by local woman, Linda Tobin, in aid of Wexford Hospice homecare was a great success.
The event is held at her home and she was delighted to welcome visitors through the door to raise money for one of the most respected community support organisations in the county.
In addition to being a great fundraising event the coffee morning also provided an opportunity for local people to get together for an informal social gathering.
Linda was delighted with the turnout and speaking to this newspaper said it was great to be able to help an organisation that does such great work for other people all across the county.
It was the sixth year that Linda held the event which she first started after her father passed away.
‘He died seven years ago, last September,’ she said.
‘I said to my sisters I would like to do something to give back to hospice and that’s where the idea came from,’ she added.
It’s always held in her house and she said all the family look forward to including her husband, James Kavanagh, and her daughter, Rachel Tobin.
‘Neighbours, friends and family all help out and it’s always a nice social event too,’ she said.
‘Myself, my husband and daughter meet-and-greet people when they arrive and the neighbours and family members help out in the kitchen,’ she added.
Linda said that without the help and support of her husband, daughter, relatives and neighbours she wouldn’t be able to do it each year and she’s very appreciative of their support.
‘It just wouldn’t happen without them and I really appreciate all their help,’ she said.
This year’s event raised €891 for Wexford Hospice and to date the annual event has raised over €5,000 for the worthy cause.
Linda is also very involved in the Hope & Dream initiative each year and she said she is delighted to be able to help two very worthy initiatives.
‘They are two very good causes and it’s great to be able to help them,’ she said.
