BUNCLODY KILMYSHALL DRAMA GROUP

Bunclody Kilmyshall drama group presents ‘Moonglow’ as their competitiv­e festival production for 2019.

Playwright Kim Carney used her own experience of her mother’s diagnosis and life with Alzheimer’s as the inspiratio­n for her play ‘Moonglow’.

The play tells the story of two elderly care home patients with Alzheimer’s, who move between the present time and their memories of their younger selves.

With plenty of humour and emotion the play is a great night’s entertainm­ent.

The cast comprises of Josephine Byrne, Billy Canning, Mairéad Connaughto­n, Pádraig D’Arcy, Kate Power, Timmy Connaughto­n and Elaine Jordan and is directed by Kieran Tyrell.

With such credential­s, the beautifull­y sensitive and poignant performanc­e of this play by the group is no surprisean­d is definitely not to be missed.

The play runs in the FCJ concert hall nightly at 8 p.m. from Wednesday, February 20, to Saturday, February 23, Tickets available on the door.

Coming up this February in Bunclody Library – Thursday, February 21, at 7 p.m. – ‘Fire Safety at Home’ Fire Safety Talk with Colm McGrath, Assistant Chief Fire Officer – The three Golden Rules to follow to make sure that you and your family are safe from fire are.

Prevention: The best way to be ‘fire safe’ is to make sure that fires never happen.

Detection: A fire alarm that works will give you time to get everyone out of the house.

Evacuation: Help very young, old or sick people to leave the house. Get out and stay out.

Thursday, February 28, at 7 p.m. – Making a Will with Ethel Deacon. A will is a document that any person can have drawn up and that they then sign. It will contain instructio­ns as to what is to happen to their assets when they die.

If a person does not make a will, their estate will be divided in a way that is set out in law. However, the people who will then benefit may not be the people the deceased person would have wished to benefit.

BUNCLODY ICA

Bunclody ICA Guild held their February meeting in the Pastoral Centre on Monday, February 11. The meeting opened with the singing of ‘My Land’. A vote of sympathy was passed to Lily Power on the death of her father Samul Codd.

A federation meeting will take place on February 25 in the River Babk Hotel, Wexford. The April meeting will be held in Camross and the June meeting in Duncannon. A federation table quizwill be held in Cooney’s Lounge, Oulart on February 21.

After the usual business of the night was dealt with, a lovely tea was enjoyed by all.

The next meeting will take place on March 11. The competitio­n will be for ‘something unusual and precious’. New members welcome.

CHILD AND FAMILY SUPPORT NETWORK.

The child and Family Support Network invites parents or guardians to attend a session on Tips on Sleep for children and Young People in St Aidan’s Hall, Irish Street, Bunclody on Tuesday, March 5, from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

The Monday Club meets at St Mary’s Day Centre, Ryland Road on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come along-enjoy a social and informativ­e gathering.

The revised February programme is as follows:

Monday, February 25 – Dancing Lessons with Declan Flannigan.

Throughout the year there is entertainm­ent, informatio­n sharing, arts and crafts, guest speakers, bingo and card playing.

This club would suit 60 years plus age group.

The entrance fee is €4 which includes tea and a light lunch.

Come along and enjoy a social and informativ­e gathering. Everyone is welcome and it’s very easy to make friends in the club.

Paddy Mulally, the most recent winner of Bunclody Vocational College split-the-pot draw, won €91.

The next Bunclody Vocational College split-the-pot draw takes place on Friday, March 1.
