Wexford Has Talent semi reschedule­d as mark of respect

THE second Wexford Has Talent semi-final which was to have taken place in Clayton Whites Hotel in Wexford last Saturday night, was postponed as a mark of respect following the sudden passing of Sarsfields and Wexford footballer John Harrington at the age of 51.

a stalwart of the Sarsfields GAA club, who host the annual talent competitio­n, Mr Harrington had been among the club members helping out with the organising of this year’s event.

The second semi is now set to take place at Clayton Whites this coming Sunday, February 24, starting at 7 p.m.

Fifteen acts will take to the stage to battle it out for a coveted place in the 2019 Wexford People Wexford Has Talent final. The hopefuls include a group from The Wexford School of Ballet; a hip Hop dance group from RM Company; singer-songwriter from St. Mullins, Jack Gladney; Group CRJ comprising Jessica Bent, Rihanne Fox and Chris Bent; musical theatre singer Caoimhe Boyle from Ballywilli­a; singer and ukulele player Eabha Keane from Murrintown; hip hop dance group, Synergy from Gorey; and singers Evan Roche from Taghmon, Patrice McGillycud­dy, originally from Kerry but representi­ng Barntown, Emma Byrne from Clonroche, Jenny Murphy from Enniscorth­y, Adi Roche O’Leary from Bannow Chris Flood Hayes from Courtown, and Michaela O’Hare from Wexford town; and singer-songwriter Luke Spellacy Shaw, also from Wexford town. Three acts from this second semi-final will be chosen on the night to go forward to the March 9 final where they will be joined by the three finalists selected from the first semi: singer Evey Roche, dance group The Sullivan School of Dance and gymnasts Gym Stars, as well as the ‘golden ticket’ winner who automatica­lly secured a place in the final, singer Marby Arrioli from Kildare.

At least seven more acts, selected from the acts who competed at both semi-finals, will also qualify for the final and they will be announced in this newspaper next Tuesday, February 26.

Tickets for the second semi-final are on sale at €10 each at Clayton Whites Hotel.

The 2019 Wexford Has Talent winner will walk away with a €2,000 cash prize. Prizes of €500 each will be awarded to two runners-up. Sponsored by the Wexford People, Wexford Has Talent has taken place annually since 2015.
