S.B.R. A.C.

-

It was a quiet weekend on the roads for S.B.R.

Pat Crean and Frances Murphy took the short journey to Graiguecullen in Carlow for the 5k and 10k Challenge. Pat ran in the 10k and finished in 33rd position, with Frances taking on the 5k in 29:02.

Claire Gibbons was the sole club member that took part in the Gorey Parkrun on Saturday morning, finishing in a time of 24:50.

The fourth round of the S.B.R. winter league took place in Ferns on Wednesday evening. There was a good turn-out of runners again, with brilliant competition for places and times taking place all the way through the field.

It was the one-mile race this time, which encompassed almost a lap and a half of the ‘V’, and it saw Paul Lynch back on the winning trail in the men’s division.

There was a titanic battle for the ladies’ win, with Ciara Bowe just shading it over Lillian Lawless, after great running by the two women.

There was a change in team standings at the top, but with only eleven points separating the first four teams, the race for top team could go any way over the next few weeks.

Please note that there will be no league tomorrow (Wednesday, February 20) due to the Gorey Night Run taking place on Thursday evening, and the Wexford Novice road races taking place on Sunday.

The league will re-commence on Wednesday, February 27, with a twomile race.

The Novice road race takes place this Sunday, hosted by United Striders, with the ladies’ race starting at 12 noon over 3k, followed immediately afterwards by the men at 6k.

We encourage every eligible runner to take part, as your one place might just make a difference to the team at the end.
