Techstars Startup in the Hatch Lab Gorey

ASPIRING entreprene­urs in County Wexford are invited to the Hatch Lab in Gorey for the second ‘ Techstars Startup Weekend’ this week for the opportunit­y to explore and develop mew business ideas in a fun and inclusive environmen­t.

Over the course, which is a partnershi­p between Wexford LEO and Bank of Ireland, attendees will pitch ideas, get into teams and start up companies, all supported throughout by expert mentors.

It will take place on Friday, March 1 until Sunday, March 3. The cost is €30 and includes free accommodat­ion to enable participan­ts experience a fully immersive Startup Weekend.

Participan­ts can bring their ideas to the next level and connect with like-minded people. Last year’s event saw 35 participan­ts, and some Startup Weekend graduates, such as Vicki O’Donnell of Wilder Wander who turned her Startup Weekend idea into a self-sustaining businesses operating from the Hatch Lab.

In addition to developing their own ideas, participan­ts will also be tasked with coming up with solutions for challenges relevant to Gorey, the surround- ing region, and beyond. The goal of the weekend is to create an environmen­t where passionate people can come together to get things done.

Speakers over the weekend include Colin Keogh, mechanical engineer and designer who featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2016 and was one of the JCIs 10 Outstandin­g Young People in 2017; Vikki O’Donnell, CEO Wilder Wander; Cyril Byrne, Software Innovator; Szilvia Szabo, CEO of the Impacter, as well as a number of mentors, coaches and specialist­s.
