DRAMA FESTIVAL
The KMH is the centre of attention as the 61st annual drama festival kicked off on Friday night, February 22. The launch of the festival was held in the Upton court hotel, Tom Dempsey former hurler and sports commentator launched the festival Tom spoke of how honoured he was to be invited to launch the festival as it held fond memories for him as he had attended the festival as a child growing up in Kilmuckridge. In his address on the evening Festival Director Michael Johnston thanked everybody who helped in any way to make the festival a success. In attendance on the evening were councillors Mary Farrell, James Browne, Malcolm Byrne, Pip Breen and apol- ogies from Brendan Howlin and Michael Darcy.
The Kilmuckridge Drama festival runs nightly at 8 p.m. from Friday 22 to Saturday, March 2. Adjudicator this year is Gerard Stembridge. Undoubtedly the star attraction of the festival will be the local Kilmuckridge Drama group which is staging ‘The righteous are Bold ‘by Frank Carney. Admission €10 adults, €5. Children, Patrons ticket €60 for nine nights.

WALKING/RUNNING GROUP
An open social walking/running group has commenced in Kilmuckridge. Meets will take place at new time of 8 p.m. each Monday to Friday evening starting at St Joseph’s NS for anyone who wishes to take part. Anyone interested can join the informational What’s App Group by contacting Yvonne O’Sullivan at 087 9555282 or otherwise simply turn up any evening that suits and join in. At least two members of the group will definitely be out each of the nights except for nights where a Red Warning has been issued for the area. This is a casual group set up to encourage people to get out and about with others in the community for some gentle exercise at a pace that suits each individual. Looking forward to meeting any new joiners. Buffers Alley Squash Club the squash court is currently getting a facelift and it is hoped to have it up and running in the coming weeks.
