Cloughbawn lead way

Division1

Cloughbawn continue to lead the way in Division 1 after edging out Tombrack United 1-0 on Sunday.

Gavin Murphy gave the pacesetter­s a deserved lead in the second-half, but Tombrack improved after conceding and they hit the crossbar with ten minutes remaining.

Campile United’s title challenge is gathering pace and they hit Moyne Rangers for four without reply at the weekend.

Emmett Dunning netted a double, while Darragh Kent and Jamie Myler chipped in with a goal apiece.

New Ross Celtic moved clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win away to promotion-chasing Kilmore United. Devin Furlong put Kilmore ahead, but Rory O’Connor and Darragh McDonald hit the back of the net for the Barrowside­rs.

New Ross Town netted a magnificen­t seven away to St. Leonards, with Dermot Rossiter leading the way with a hattrick, Craig McDonald, Anthony Feeney and Danielius Niekis getting a goal apiece, and an own goal adding to their tally in a 7-1 win. Aran Murphy got on the scoresheet for the saints.

Meanwhile, North End United picked up three points without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover froom Gorey Celtic.

Division2

Glynn Barntown, Adamstown and Ferns United continue to battle it out at the top of Division 2 as all three secured victories on Sunday.

Glynn Barntown overcame Enniscorth­y United 4-1, with Kieron Carty giving them a 1-0 half-time advantage.

Goals from Seán Carmody and Ríoghan Crosbie put them a 3-0 ahead, and although Ryan Murphy pulled one back for United, John Leacy wrapped up the win with a late fourth.

Ian White netted a double for Adamstown as they chalked up a comfortabl­e 3-0 win over Shelburne United, with an own goal adding to their tally.

Ferns United proved too strong for Taghmon United, running out comfortabl­e 4-0 winners with goals from Jonny Dwyer (two), John Breen and Ivan Meegan.

Stephen McGuire netted a double for Curracloe United, with Graham Staples also hitting the back of the net as they earned a 3-2 win away to Cushinstow­n. Nicky Sinnott and Seán McGrath scored for the hosts.

Meanwhile, a Seamus Doyle double earned Killenagh a 2-0 win away to Crossabeg AFC.

Division3

Shamrock Rovers may have lost out to Gorey Rangers in the title race but they proved much too good for Bree United on Sunday, running out emphatic 9-1 winners.

Duncannon put in a five-star display against Wexford Celtic, winning 5-0 with goals from Keith Donnelly, Michael O’Grady, Jay O’Grady (two) and Ryan Slowey.

Elsewhere, Enniscorth­y Town earned a 3-3 draw away to St. Joseph’s, with Kallan Murphy, Joe Hyland and Keith Casey scoring for the visitors and Gary O’Leary (two) and Seán Furlong on target for Joey’s.

Division3A

Leaders Rosslare Strand took another step towards the Division 3A title as they chalked up a 3-0 win away to Bridge Rovers.

The visitors made the perfect start, with Steven O’Reilly firing them in front inside the first minute, and they wrapped up the points with second-half goals from Liam O’Connor and Dylan Parle.

Ajax Athletic kept their slim title hopes alive as they chalked up an emphatic 6-0 win over Corach Ramblers. Jack Hanley bagged a double for the Rajahs, with Darren Morrissey, Chris Hendrick, Liam Moore and Glenn Fortune scoring a goal apiece.

Forth Celtic are also very much in the mix and on Sunday they overpowere­d All Blacks 6-2 with goals from Anthony Hayes, Robert Coakley, Aaron Whitty, Aaron Price and Keith Murphy (two), with Adam Devereux scoring twice in reply.

Oylegate United hosted Wexford Bohs and after an entertaini­ng clash they came away with a point apiece after a 3-3 draw.

Patrick Shannon, Richard Murphy and Lee Kehoe scored for the home side, with Alan Flood (two) and Luke O’Neill replying for Bohs.

Fethard Rangers maintained their Division 3A status, with a Jean-Luc Tubritt hat-trick earning them a 3-1 win over Rosslare Rangers.

The striker converted two first-half chances to give his side a 2-0 half-time advantage and, although Rosslare pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining through Danny Ennis, Tubritt had the final say, sealing the deal with a far post header in the last minute.

Division4

The battle between Courtown Hibs and Rosbercon United looks like going right down to the wire as both sides earned contrastin­g victories at the weekend.

Hibs had a comfortabl­e afternoon as they cruised to a 4-0 win over Ferns United with goals from Dave Fitzpatric­k, Adam Ellard and Stephen Redmond (two), while Rosbercon United were pushed all the way by Kiltealy Celtic before eking out a 3-2 victory.

Joey Meggs, Cillian Bennett and Mick Kelleher got the goals for United, with Patrick Somers and Davy Cogley hitting the back of the net for Kiltealy.

Crossabeg moved into third spot with a 4-1 win away to The Ballagh United, with Conor Keeling (two), Robert Murphy and Conor Maddock scoring for the winners.

Jake Cassidy bagged a double for Gorey Celtic as they chalked up a 4-2 win over Carne F.C. on Friday night. Greg O’Rourke and Paddy Fleming also hit the net for the north county side, while Ger Burke and Fintan Mullins scored for Carne.
