Brilliant Bohs clinch Division 5 title

Division5

Wexford Bohs captured the Division 5 title in style as they secured an impressive 3-0 away win over nearest challengers Bunclody on Sunday.

This is the third team’s first season together and Gary O’Brien, Graham Kelly and Beau Brennan got their goals as they clinched the silverware with real authority.

Eoin Healy, who also plays in goal for the team, and Lee Goggins took on the challenge of getting this squad together and they really brought the best out of them.

Goggins has been a breath of fresh air in the club with his enthusiasm and energetic encouragement on the line in his first-ever stint in management.

The team captain is excellent young player Alex Bergin but unfortunately he suffered a lot of injuries this season, so up stepped Mark Goggins, and he has been a man mountain at centre-back for the team.

There is a lot of talent throughout the side, but Beau Brennan has to get a special mention for the goals he has scored this season, having hit the back of the net 19 times to date.

The spirit throughout the team is second to none and it’s a credit to everyone in the squad how hard they have worked to achieve their goals.

The club would like to thank The Sailing Cot, who sponsor the third team and the ladies’ team, and the squad have more silverware in their sights as they look forward to taking on Rosslare Port ‘B’ in the Gwyn Jones Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, third-placed Shamrock Rovers got another three points on the board when overcoming Cushinstown 5-2, with Ciarán Kehoe netting a double for Cushinstown.

St. Cormac’s kept their promotion hopes alive with a 3-0 away win over Wexford Celtic. Eoin Murphy bagged a double for the visitors, with Liam Walsh also getting in on the act.

Elsewhere, All Blacks picked up three points when they were handed a walkover from Ajax Athletic.
