SCHOOL NEWS

Green School work is continuning in the school. Events in April are the An Taisce Spring Clean Day and Used small battery collection details below.

National Spring Clean Day – As part of the Green School the pupils, staff and parents of Ballycanew National School will be working together with Camolin Parish CE Scheme, Tidy Towns and the residents’ association of Ounavarra Park, Ballycanew Court and Village Gate to tidy the village and the school grounds for the National Spring Clean Day. This will help towards the Tidy Towns Competition. The event takes place on Thursday, April 11 (weather dependant) from 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. All interested volunteers meet in the schools grounds. Gloves and bags will be provided. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the school at 053 9427496 if you would like to help out on the day.

Battery collection – Please feel free to drop your used small batteries into the school if you want to recycle any.

Scholastic Book Fair – A children’s book fair will be held in Ballycanew NS from Monday, April 8, to Thursday, April 11, from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Commission from all the purchases will be used to purchase more books for the school library. Parents and members of the public are most welcome to attend as their support would be very much appreciated. Mobile book cases packed with the best books will be displayed in the school.

Enrolments – These are now being taking for new pupils for September 2019. Please call to the school office or call 053 9427496 for an enrolment pack.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratulations to the Saturday, March 23, winner of the splitthe-pot, Kevin Lacey, prize money was €226. Thanks to everyone for their continue support.

ST PATRICK’S GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot; winning numbers were 1, 11, 16 and 28. Nobody matched three numbers so €150 was donated to Ballycanew senior citizens.

LITTLE DUCKLINGS

Avail of the free playschool facility with Little Ducklings for your child. Little Ducklings Playschool are now taking enrolments for September 2019. Limited places available so contact Lucy at 086 0883141 to secure your child’s place now.

BALLYOUGHER NS

Enrolment now being taken for September 2019 for Ballyoughter National School. Expression of interest forms also available for September 2020 intake. If you would like to enroll your child for the coming year or put your name on file for September 2020 contact the office at 053 938200 Tuesday – Thursday 9.15-1.30 or leave a message any day and an enrollment form or expression of interest form will be issued to you.
