The OsKaRs community fundraisin­g initative will take place over the next few months culminatin­g in a star studded event in late September when coveted awards will be handed out to those who shine on the big screen, why not get invovled, it promises to be a most entertaing event. On the screening night you can sit back and relax and bask in the spotlight without any nerves to worry about.

Congratula­tions to Orla Bass and her dance partner Aaron O’Hara, who were placed highly in the all-Ireland jiving competitio­n held recently. Best of luck to all local business’s and individual­s in the running for the South East Radio Customer Excellence Awards 2019.

VANDALISM

Please be vigilant around the pitches and community field, a nasty incident of three windows being broken in the stand took place recently, please report any disturbanc­e. These really are mindless acts of vandalism and have no place in our community.

SPRING CLEAN

National Spring Clean encourages people from all walks of life to take pride in their local environmen­t and to take action against litter. The campaign runs throughout the whole month of April. By volunteeri­ng for the campaign you can take an active role in improving and maintainin­g your local environmen­t, by making it a cleaner and more enjoyable place to live in.

Shane Earle is interested in participat­ing in the North Wexford 2K Clean 2019 initiative and invites others to think about joining him in a clean-up during April 2019 of two 2km stretches of the main Gorey to Carnew road from Kilnahue to Craanford which is badly littered and presents a poor approach to the village of Craanford. Please consider taking part. A meeting of those interested in helping will be called shortly.

RUN WITH RAY

‘Run with Ray’ will take place on Sunday, May 26; this is a great event for all ages. It’s always a great community day.

A few weeks’ preparatio­n will make all the difference on the day, stretch before and after excercise, start off gently and build up gradually alternatin­g between walking and running but most of all enjoy.

CRAANFORD PARISH CERTIFICAT­ES – The sister dioceses of Ferns, Ossory and Kildare and Leighlin have together employed a Data Protection Officer, Ms Noreen Reynolds, based in Bishops House, Kilkenny. Her duty is to ensure that all parishes of our dioceses are compliant with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation­s) of the European Union. In this era of increased harvesting of personal data it is necessary to ensure its proper use.

Therefore, in future, and to ensure such compliance, all requests for Craanford parish certificat­es (baptism, Confirmati­on, Marriage) must be made in person to Craanford parish office on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to midday (087 3633965 Email craanfordl­ocalnews@gmail.com). Each applicatio­n involves the filling out of a request form and, should you be unknown to us, the presentati­on of personal identifica­tion (Passport, Driver’s License or Public Service Card).

U17 SUCCESS - Well done to our under-17 hurlers who continued their success with a great win over the Rapperees on a score line of 4-13 to 0-14, our adults footballer­s secured a draw in the ACFL against St Pat’s finishing Craanford 1-09 St Pat’s – 12.
