ACTIVE RETIRED
At a recent meeting of the Ballagh Active Retirement Group a calendar of events for 2019 was drawn up, including a Mid-Week Getaway to Racket Hall Country House Hotel, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, from June 17 to June 20. The all-inclusive price of €235 includes three nights dinner, bed and Breakfast, return Coach travel from the Ballagh, two Day Coach tours to places of interest in the surrounding area and Evening Entertainment. BINGO FOR COMMUNITY CENTRE
The Ballagh Community Centre will hold a fundraising bingo on Saturday, April 20, at 8 p.m. This bingo session is to help towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Community Centre.
CHOIR FOR EASTER
Rehearsals for Easter Saturday Night Mass (April 20) are under way on Monday nights at 7.30 p.m.
SPLIT-THE-POT

TALK FOR PARENTS
The parents’ association of Ballaghkeene National School has organised a talk for parents called ‘Supporting parents to support their children’s mental health and well-being’. The Talk will take place in the school on April 8 at 7.30 p.m. and is highly recommended by the National parents’ council (Primary).
BOXING
Boxers from the Ballagh Club are continuing the proud local tradition and being successful, year after year. Congratulations to Ryan Cullen and Aaron Kirwan-Doyle, who qualified for the Leinster Finals in Athy and commiserations to James Cullen, who lost on a very close decision.
DEFIBRILLATOR
The Ballagh Community Centre obtained a grant of €3,000 to buy a defibrillator for the area. It has been erected on the Parochial House. The number for the code on the box can be obtained from Ger Dempsey (086 14784 84) or Pauline Davitt (087 6864594).Training in how to use the defibrillator will be available shortly, in the community centre.
CFR TRAINING
The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders is live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service, on a totally voluntary basis. Anyone interested in joining the group is asked to contact Vickie (087 7780749) or Ger (086 1578484).
GAA/CAMOGIE REGISTRATION
Parents/Guardians of underage GAA and camogie players are reminded that ALL players must be registered for training and playing matches and that the deadline to enter competitions and to register teams is fast approaching.

MINI-7S HURLING/ RACKARD LEAGUE
The boys from the Ballagh primary school and their coaches are to be congratulated on qualifying for the Mini-Sevens finals, in a group that included Rathnure, Kilanerin and Buffers Alley. The Rackard League hurling team are at home to Ballindaggin on April 3. The Rackard League camogie team lost to Oylegate and have upcoming fixtures against Blackwater and Camolin.
UNDERAGE GAA RESULTS AND FIXTURES.
Oulart-The Ballagh Premier under-17 hurlers lost to Glynn-Barntown on a scoreline of two goals 13 points to one goal nine points. They are at home to Shelmaliers on Wednesday, April 3, at 8 p.m. They play Na Laochra in Bunclody at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.
Our under-13 boys play Roinn one football (Division 4) on Tuesday, April 9, versus Ferns at 6.30 p.m. On Tuesday, April 16, they are at home to Glynn-Barntown, in championship hurling at 7 p.m. in Oulart.
Two teams of our under-11 hurlers had a very successful outing in the recent Go Games Blitz in Ferns.
