ANNUAL SPRING CLEAN

The annual Spring Clean sponsored by An Taisce will take place on the weekend of April 6 and seven. Bags are available at Byrne’s of Bree and depots for pick-up will be marked. Please help to keep our parish tidy.

DAFFODIL DAY

Daffodil Day in Enniscorth­y was a great success and a total of €10,840 was raised for the Irish Cancer Society. We would like to thank all the volunteers who made this possible including those who gave fresh daffodils, wrapped the daffodils, those who stood outside the six locations in town to collect donations and all those who came out on the day and gave so generously.

BREE ICA

The AGM of Bree ICA will be held in Bree Community Centre on April 16 at 8 p.m. A committee meeting will be held on April 9 at 8 p.m.

GALBALLY CAR BOOT SALE

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host an indoor and outdoor market/car boot sale on Easter Monday, April 22, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. €15 per stall/ pitch. For enquiries and bookings contact Dawn at 087 8306206.

BREE PLAYGROUND FUNDRAISER

Phase two of the Bree Playground has been approved and is due for completion by the end of April. Support is needed to share the responsibi­lity of the monitoring and paying for our playground. Donations are welcome on instagram or Facebook app ‘gofundme.com/breeplaygr­ound’. Your support for this wonderful new facility for all children in our locality would be very much appreciate­d.

MACRA REUNION

Wexford Macra na Feirme are organising a Reunion and dinner dance to celebrate their 70th Anniversar­y. The event will take place in the Riverside Park Hotel on Saturday, April 13, at 7.30 p.m. All past and current members of Bree Macra are encouraged to come along and enjoy the memories as we take Macra in Wexford into the next decade. BREE/GLYNN CEP SCHEME

Applicatio­ns are being sought for the following positions on the Bree/Glynn CEP Scheme: Child Care Worker in Bri Beag, Child Care Worker in Galbally Playschool, Cleaner for Bri Beag and Bree Community Centre, Clerical Assistant in Bree. HOPE CANCER CENTRE SUPPORT CD

Singer Peter Hughes of Galbally has produced a five track CD in aid of the Hope Centre Enniscorth­y. The CD, which includes his No one Hit single ‘Keep on the Sunny Side’, is on sale locally and in the Cancer Support Shop on Mill Park Road, Enniscorth­y at €10. Support would be appreciate­d.

RUN/WALK THANK YOU

The Galbally Sports and Leisure Club committee wish to sincerely thank everyone involved in the organisati­on and running of the Run/Walk, especially to members of the local community who helped in setting up for the event and to the many stewards and caterers who ensured that participan­ts returned from the run safely and left the event well fed. Thanks also to everyone who came out and rose to the challenge of running or walking a challengin­g course.

COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS

Well done to the under-12 Draughts team of Oisin Harte, George Murphy, Matthew Jordan, Riona Kehoe, Nathan Doyle and Cathal O’Brien, who won gold medals in the county final and to the under-10 team of Luke Jordan, Fergal Doyle, Muireann Kehoe, Sarah Jordan, Maria Humphrey, Mark Smith and Anna Humphrey, who were third. Well done and thanks to their coach Martin Humphrey.

Entries are now being taken for under-12 and under-16 Talent which takes place in Bree Hall on Tuesday, April 23. Closing date for these entries is April 7. Best wishes to all local participan­ts involved in Mini Rugby, Swimming and quiz county finals coming up shortly.

BREE AC NEWS

The first Open Sports of the season takes place in Ferrybank, Waterford on Sunday next, April 7, Athletes must be registered members of Bree AC to compete. Outdoor training for Bree AC athletes takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds. Little Athletics for four to eight years will resume on Mondays only on April 8 in the top field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

SCHOOLS REPORT

Congratula­tions to the children of fifth and sixth class of Scoil Eoin Baiste, Galbally and the sixth class in Bree NS who made their Confirmati­on in Bree on Wednesday, March 27, a wonderful day was had by all. Well done also to their parents, teachers and all those involved in preparing them for the occasion.

Well done to the second class pupils of Scoil Mhuire NS Ballyhogue, who made their First Confession in Bellevue on Tuesday, March 26. Thank you to all our parents and students for their support on the night and also a big thank you to our parents’ associatio­n who provided refreshmen­ts afterwards in the school.

All National schools in the parish are now accepting enrolments for next September. Please contact individual schools for details.

BREE BINGO

Bree Bingo continues every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. €10 per book and extra bonus sheets will be sold on the night for €2.

GALBALLY TRACTOR RUN

The annual Galbally Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, May 26.
