Dedicated members honoured at IFA annual general meeting
A number of presentations were made at the recent Annual General Meeting of the IFA which took place in the organisation’s county office in Enniscorthy.
The Chairperson, James Kehoe, made a presentation to Ned Lyng in acknowledgement of his six years as rural development officer.
It’s a very important role within the organisation and that fact was highlighted at the meeting with Mr Kehoe paying tribute to Mr Lyng for his help, hard work, and commitment.
Another member of the organisation, Joe Byrne, from Bunclody, received honorary life membership from the National IFA President, Joe Healy.
In offering his congratulations to Mr Byrne, he acknowledged his dedication to the organisation and said he was a very deserving recipient.
The vice-chairperson of Wexford IFA, Edel Gahan, stepped down from her role recently to devote her attention to running in this year’s local elections as a Fine Gael candidate.
However, at the AGM she was honoured for her work with the IFA when Mr Kehoe made a presentation to her daughter, Rebecca, who was there on behalf of her mother.
Two cheques were also presented on the night.
The Hope Cancer Support Centre received a cheque for €1,500 which was the proceeds from the Live Crib which was located at the centre over Christmas.
The cheque was presented by Mr Kehoe to Liz Fitzgerald and Linda Tobin-Kavanagh who were in attendance as representatives of the Hope Centre.
Mr Kehoe expressed delight in being able to hand over the money to such a deserving organisation and said the IFA was very glad to be able to support such a worthy cause.
A cheque for a similar amount was also presented to Helen Kirwan and Liam Buttle, from the Irish Pilgrimage Trust.
That money was also raised through the Live Crib initiative.
As with the Hope Centre the Trust was acknowledged for the very important role it plays in the community.
