Campile closing in on Division 1 crown

Division 1

Campile United continued to close in on the Division 1 crown, with two wins moving them level with Cloughbawn at the top of the table.

In midweek a P.J. Banville goal was enough for the villagers to edge out New Ross Celtic 1-0.

On Sunday they chalked up a more straightfo­rward win when overcoming Tombrack United 5-0. Banville added another two to his tally, while Barry Hearn, Darragh Kent and an own goal completed the scoring.

Goals from Stephen O’Leary and Anthony Feeney earned New Ross Town a 2-0 away win over Gorey Celtic, while Moyne Rangers shocked promotion-chasing Kilmore United 2-0, with Dillon Redmond and Dayle Donohoe getting their goals.

Meanwhile, St. Cormac’s finished out their Division 1 campaign last Wednesday evening with a 4-1 win away to New Ross Town.

Jamie Dempsey-Doyle bagged a double for the visitors, with Matthew Dunne and Nathan Dickson also getting on the scoresheet for the winners.

Division2

Leaders Glynn Barntown moved a step closer to the Division 2 title with a 2-1 win over Shelburne United on Sunday.

Robert Dempsey fired them in front with a cracking volley, and Ríoghan Crosbie doubled their advantage from the penalty spot.

Chris Connick pulled a goal back for Shelburne with 25 minutes remaining, but they couldn’t force an equaliser.

The table-toppers had to settle for a share of the spoils in their midweek clash with Curracloe United.

Dempsey and Crosbie (penalty) also got their goals in that game, with Tomás Murphy and Brian O’Connor scoring for the seasiders.

Ferns United are just two points behind in second place after registerin­g a comprehens­ive 4-0 win away to Cushinstow­n. James Tonks, Keith Breen, Shane Breen and Jonny Dwyer got their goals.

Ian White was the hat-trick hero for Adamstown, as he netted all his side’s goals in their 3-2 win over Curracloe United, with Tomás Murphy and Mark O’Connor replying.

Division3

Raheen inflicted the first defeat of the season on champions Gorey Rangers when running out 3-0 winners in Ramstown on Sunday.

Dylan Whitty and Peter Finn hit the back of the net for Raheen, while Stephen Costello scored the pick of the bunch, a superb 25-yard volley.

Goals from Kallan Murphy and Keith Casey earned a 2-1 midweek win for Enniscorth­y Town against Bunclody AFC, with Dion Dunne replying.
