Fox wins it for Rovers

Ricky Fox kept Shamrock Rovers on track for the title as they edged out Courtown Hibs in their Premier Division clash on Sunday.

Fox netted the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as the racked up another important victory.

Moyne Rangers remain five points adrift in second place, with a game in hand, after beating Rosslare Rangers 3-1. Rob Cousins got on the scoresheet for the Rosslare men, but Moyne proved too strong, with Lenny Connolly netting a double and Tomás Mahon also hitting the back of the net.

North End United continued to gather momentum with two wins in the space of four days.

On Thursday evening they saw off the challenge of Forth Celtic, winning 4-0 with goals from Paul ‘Spot’ Murphy (two), Alan Rhodes and Paul Murphy (Kilmore).

They followed it up with a 4-1 triumph against Corach Ramblers on Sunday, with Shane Dempsey netting a double and Kyle Dempsey and Paul ‘Spot’ Murphy (penalty) hitting the back of the net. Adam Diskin got on the scoresheet for Ramblers.

Gorey Rangers also added six points to their tally during the week.

Jamie Howard and Gavin O’Brien (two) got their goals in a 3-0 win over Courtown Hibs on Thursday evening.

On Sunday, Joe Bolger and Glen O’Brien scored as they saw off Wexford Bohs 2-1, with Todd Hynes netting for Bohs.

Jamie Carty and Darren Jordan got the goals for Forth Celtic as they picked up an important three points when defeatingg Bunclody 2-1.
