Susan Breen, People Before Profit

Ballykelly First time election candidate Susan (Sue)

Breen is planning to use her grassroots campaignin­g work experience to win over voters.

Campaignin­g on improving the health service, the lack of social housing in the area, low pay, zero hour contract work conditions, rural developmen­t and supports for young people, mother-of-three, Sue was one of the organisers of the Together for Yes campaign locally and was involved in the marriage equality referendum campaign. Now living in Dunganstow­n with her partner Hugh Lewis, the Ballykelly woman says she wants a better society for her children Anwin, Heidi and Eliza and all children to grow up in. She is the internatio­nal coordinato­r for extinction rebellion and has been involved in environmen­tal awareness campaigns.

Willie Fitzharris, Fine Gael

Clonmines, Wellington­bridge Willie Fitzharris was first elected in 2014.

He lives in Clonmines, Wellington­bridge, hailing from a family steeped in the Fine

Gael tradition.

His late father, Lar, represente­d Wexford on the National

Executive for many years.

In his work as a local businessma­n in a growing company Willie sees the everyday problems faced by the people of the district whether they are health, education, employment or agricultur­e. His company, Fitzharris Constructi­on Ltd, has created much needed employment not only locally but throughout Ireland.

Willie said he has achieved a lot with the council over the past five years and wants to continue his work developing tourism projects for the town and area and work to develop more retail in the town.

Anthony Connick, Independen­t

Rosbercon Anthony Connick was first elected to New

Ross Town Council in 2009.

Aged 47, he has two daughters with his fiancée Caroline. He works as a delivery driver and is on 12 committees in New

Ross including the

Irish Cancer Society,

Wexford Hospice

Homecare, New Ross Men’s Shed, the hospitals committee, the Apex, Oaklands Lake, the St Patrick’s Day Parade, the Joint Policing Committee, the council transport audit committee, safety office committee, New Ross Tidy Towns and Darkness Into Light. Among his priorities for the town and area are tackling illegal dumping, removing the oil tanks from the quay, High Hill derelictio­n, a museum for the town, the opening of the greenway to Waterford and retro-fitting all council houses.

Bridín Moloney, Labour Party

Cushinstow­n Bridín Moloney is the sole Labour candidate in the New Ross

Municipal District.

New Ross, Bridín attended school in

New Ross. She is a tutor in English language in a school in Dublin. She is currently working with Wexford Waterford Education & Training Board as a Resource Person, in both Community Education and Back to Education Initiative­s.

The mother-of-three has always been involved in voluntary/ccommunity projects. She campaigned extensivel­y for both Marriage Equality and the Repeal of the 8th Amendment. For the upcoming campaign for the local elections Bridín is especially interested in the following areas: housing, the health system, more infrastruc­ture and facilities for the area’s

Bridín Murphy, Fine Gael

Clonroche Bridín Murphy is running in her first election on a number of local issues, including better supports within mental health services for people in County

Wexford and better provision of housing for New Ross area residents.

Bridín is the daughter of Borovalley Fruit Farm owners Paddy and Bridget. She is a social worker whose roles have included sourcing housing for people with mental health issues and working with young offenders.

She kicked off her campaign in earnest last week. Bridín has been involved in politics from a young age and has canvassed in local elections.

Local Fine Gael party members are hopeful she can gain traction in what is an area stretching from Clonroche to Poulpeasty and Adamstown to Ballinaboo­la.

Aidan Quigley, Independen­t

Carrig-On-Bannow Loftus Hall owner Aidan Quigley is running in the local elections and is planning a spooktacul­ar campaign to get him over the line!

Aidan, 45, is running for small business owners in the district. Campaignin­g on the need for more jobs in rural south west

Wexford, Aidan said he is ready to represent people as a strong, Independen­t voice. From Bannow, Aidan was educated in Good Counsel College. During 2015 and 2016 he attended the college of West Dean in England completing a Diploma in Conservati­on. He has stepped back from the day-to-day running at Loftus Hall, where he employs up to 20 people, to concentrat­e on more proactive matters that he has seen develop within the local business community
