Breakfast briefing on pensions
ENNISCORTHY and District chamber of commerce is to host a breakfast briefing focussing attention on the possibility of compulsory pensions being introduced in Ireland.
The briefing is being organised in conjunction with Enniscorthy based firm, Roban Financial, and Zurich Insurance.
The event will take place in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, on Thursday, May 16, at 7.30 a.m.
The aim of the briefing will be to inform employers and the self-employed about the possible implications that compulsory pensions could have on their business.
A number of guest speakers will address the event which is open to all employers throughout the county and to those within the business community across Wexford - especially those with an interest in pension schemes.
However, the organisers have said it’s imperative for people to book in advance as places will be limited due to the expected high level of interest.
Established in 1984, Roban Financial is among the leading financial institutions in the south east and is regulated by the Central Bank.
The business’s managing director, Myles Roban, will be in attendance and he will be joined by Niall Fitzgerald who is head of retirement solutions with Zurich.
Richard Temperley, who is head of investment development at Zurich, will also be present at the meeting.
The briefing facilitator will be Maree Lyng who is President of Enniscorthy and District chamber of commerce.
Ms Lyng is also the local branch manager at Enniscorthy AIB.
When announcing details of the briefing Mr Roban said now is a ‘very important time for companies to review existing pensions and plan for the expected inclusion of all employees in a compulsory pension’.
It’s expected that Mr Fitzgerald will focus attention on the implications of ‘an auto enrolment pension scheme’ for around 60 per cent of workers in the private sector.
Mr Temperley will look at the importance of investment performance in pension schemes and how good performance leads to better outcomes for scheme members.
He will also look at the volatile nature of investment markets and give his experienced opinion on how such markets will develop for the remainder of this year.
There are ongoing changes with regard to company pensions and employee benefits and that is why the organisers of the briefing feel it’s a very important time to address the concerns of employees and the self-employed throughout the county.
Roban Financial’s staff are experts in giving advice on company pensions and employee benefits and Mr Roban said the company is delighted to be teaming up with Zurich Insurance and the local chamber of commerce for the event.
The briefing will the first of its kind to take place anywhere in the county and the organisers are keen to have as many employees and self-employed people in attendance as possible.
They said the importance of the event ‘cannot be over emphasised’.
Advance booking for a place can be made through info@ roban.ie or by phoning Lisa on 053 9233640 and early booking is advisable.
