EASTER MONDAY FUN IN GALBALLY

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will hold a number of events on Easter Monday, April 22, There will be an indoor and outdoor market/car boot sale on from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. selling crafts, books and many other items of interest. €15 per stall/pitch. The Galbally Duck Race will also be held on Monday the 22nd at Wilton Mills, Craan, Bree. The race will start at 3 p.m. and will be live-streamed into Galbally Hall. Ducks cost €10 each and are on sale in local shops, pubs and from any committee member. Come along and get involved in the fun, take part in the Easter egg hunt, the egg decorating competitio­n and meet the Easter bunny while contributi­ng towards the renovation of our local hall and the rejuvenati­on of our local community. All funds raised will go towards the renovation of Galbally Hall.

BREE ICA

The AGM of Bree ICA will be held in Bree Community Centre on April 16 at 8 p.m.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The April social of Bree Active Retirement takes place in Bree Community Centre on Wednesday, April 17, We congratula­te the Bowls Team on their recent success in the final of the County League bringing home the shield to Bree. New members always welcome. Enquiries to 086 0747823.

TABLE QUIZ

The annual Easter table quiz will be held in Garry Byrne’s this Thursday, April 18, at 9 p.m. The quiz is in aid of Wexford Academy Class Costumes. All support would be appreciate­d.

HOPE CANCER CENTRE CD

Singer Peter Hughes of Galbally has produced a five track CD in aid of the Hope Centre, Enniscorth­y. The CD, which includes his No one Hit single ‘Keep on the Sunny Side’, is on sale locally and in the Cancer Support Shop on Mill Park Road, Enniscorth­y at €10. Support would be appreciate­d.

PLAYGROUND FUNDRAISER

Phase two of the Bree Playground has been approved and is due for completion by the end of April. Support is needed to share the responsibi­lity of the monitoring and paying for our playground. Donations are welcome on instagram or Facebook app ‘gofundme.com/breeplaygr­ound’. Your support for this wonderful new facility for all children in our locality would be very much appreciate­d.

Well done to all participan­ts taking part in the recent quiz county finals. The team of George Murphy, Cormac Fleming, Lara Donegan, Aoibhe Donegan with subs Jarleth Kelly and Orlaith Flynn won the silver medals after a tie breaker for first place.

At the Leinster quarter finals in Carlow recently, the under-12 Draughts team was defeated by Tinryland 6-14. Team members were George Murphy, Oisin Harte, Nathan Doyle, Matthew Jordan and Cathal O’Brien. Team manager was Martin Humphrey.

The local mini rugby team of Rian Boland, Larry Sludds, Jayden Kenny, Jack Doyle, PJ Breen, James Wall, James Breen, Tom Finn and Sam Devereux were beaten by Tullow 8-5. This scoreline does not reflect the closeness of this tough game as the sides were level with three minutes to go. Team mentor was Andy Fraser. There was consolatio­n for the players as they received their Co Gold medals after the game. Well done to all involved.

BREE AC NEWS

Outdoor training for Bree AC athletes takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds. Little Athletics for four to eight years has resumed on Mondays only in the top field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The next outing for the club will be St Senan’s AC Open Sports on Easter Monday. Well done to all involved in Ferrybank AC Open Sports recently where Bree AC was runner-up to United Striders as overall club.

BREE BINGO

Bree Bingo continues every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. €10 per book and extra bonus sheets will be sold on the night for €2.

A Holy Hour with Exposition of Blessed Sacrament will take place in Courtnacud­dy Church on Sunday, April 14, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Holy Hour will take place every second Sunday of each month.

ADORATION

Would you like to join the adoration team. Adoration takes place in the Davidstown church from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday. Adoration brings many blessing to our parish and you too will be part of that blessing for just one hour a week. Contact Eileen at 087 9331809.

COFFEE MORNING THANKS

Elaine is delighted to announce that the total amount raised through our Daffodil Day coffee morning is €1,023.54. Thank you so much to everyone who supported this event in any way.

Thank you to all who attended, sent messages of support, made donations to the collection bucket and supplied lots of gorgeous cakes and home baking. Thank you to Nelly and the Murphy family for all their help accessing the community centre, setting up and helping on the day. A special thank you to all the helpers on Friday – Breda, Claire, Róisín, Ann, Lorraine and Grainne and to Breda for taking some lovely photos.

Thank you to the staff and pupils of Davidstown PS who joined our fundraisin­g efforts by holding a colour day on Friday and supplied the beautiful artwork on display in the community centre. This art work along with some additional pieces will form an exhibition in St John’s Hospital in the coming weeks. Parents and pupils are welcome to attend the launch of the exhibition – details of which will be circulated when finalised.

Elaine is so grateful to everyone, €1,023.54 will help provide vital services to cancer patients and their families.

Well done to the under-12 Draughts team of Oisin Harte, George Murphy, Matthew Jordan, Riona Kehoe, Nathan Doyle and Cathal O’Brien, who won gold medals in the county final and to the under-10 team of Luke Jordan, Fergal Doyle, Muireann Kehoe, Sarah Jordan, Maria Humphrey, Mark Smith and Anna Humphrey, who were third. Well done and thanks to their coach Martin Humphrey.
