The Youths were at home to a talented Cloughbawn team on Monday the eighth. And a win would have given them promotion next season. The visitors dominated the first half and well deserved their 1-0 lead at the break. The score might have been level but Daire Swords’ penalty was saved and the rebound was scrambled clear by a determined defence. Early in the second half, Nathan Dickson powered down the left side, floated a great cross to the Pádraig Moran, who obliged with a splendid headed goal. A red card for goalie Jack Tyrrell saw Darragh Murphy step between the posts for the resulting penalty. He gave the team great hope by saving a scorcher but the relentless attacking football of Cloughbawn eventually paid off and they grabbed a close-in winner near the end.
