Convictions for local motorists
JUDGE Brian O’Shea handed down convictions and fines at the District Court sitting in Gorey where he dealt with a series of motoring offences:
Hiace van driver John O’Connor from 66 Gimont Avenue in Enniscorthy did not have his certificate of roadworthiness in order at Market Square in February of last year – fine €300;
Debbie Hayes from 102 Cluain Dara, Enniscorthy, had no valid tax or insurance discs exhibited on her Ford Galaxy seen parked in the Ross Road on September 11 last two fines of €120 each;
Tanya Ryan (26) from 42 Gimont Avenue, Enniscorthy, was fined on the double, for handling a mobile phone and for not wearing her seat belt while driving a Punto at Castle Street on July 24 total fines €240;
John O’Rourke from 32 Ross Road, Enniscorthy, had no up-to-date insurance or tax discs displayed on the Toyota parked in Moran Park on July 11 two fines of €120 each;
Hugh O’Brien from Killanne, Enniscorthy, had no valid tax disc displayed in the windscreen of the Mazda parked in Rafter Street on June5 fine €120. AN age-friendly parking scheme has been launched in Enniscorthy with the specific aim of supporting older people in the community who wish to have easier access to parking in the town.
The launch of the scheme took place in the Abbey Centre car park - where a number of age-friendly parking bays are located.
A number of officials from Enniscorthy Municipal District Council were in attendance at the launch including Co Wexford Access Officer, Caroline Horan, and Anna Marie Laffan.
The Cathaoirleach of the local authority, Cllr Willie Kavanagh, cut the ribbon at the new parking bays along with the Chairperson of Wexford Co Council, Cllr Keith Doyle.
They both welcomed the initiative and said it was a very welcome development for the town.
The two politicians were joined at the ceremony by fellow council members Cllrs John O’Rourke and Barbara Anne Murphy.
Sergeant Colm Matthews and Sergeant Graham Rowley were also present on behalf of the gardai while John Roche from the Older People’s Council was also in attendance.
