All aboard for a whole new dining experience at Le Baginbun

-

ONE of the county’s most established gastro pubs has gotten a fantastic refurbishment, opening as Le Baginbun in Fethard-on-Sea this Thursday.

Formerly Neville’s, the spacious pub has been given a total makeover, while retaining the high standards of food and service synonymous with Neville’s.

With a bright, smart interior and exterior, Le Baginbun is all about providing a unique, affordable dining experience for its customers.

Under chef Tom Murphy and his highly qualified and experienced team, everyone can be assured of food featuring the freshest of locally sourced ingredients.

While boldly moving forward the management team have not forgotten the pub’s past - it has been run by the Neville family for a century - and this is reflected on their calling the old characterful pub beside the dining area, Tom Neville’s.

The larger pub is bright with nods to the coastal wonderland surrounding the bustling, charming village. It is called after two Norman ships which are reputed to have arrived in Fethard port - La Bague and La Bonne, and after nearby Baginbun beach of course.

The pub has a bright colour scheme - blues, greens and oranges - and the interior designer has added a maritime flourish by featuring fish shapes on the walls.

A new, state-of-the-art kitchen has been installed, ensuring the food served to customers will be delivered in a high speed and expertly cooked manner.

The owners are offering unique taste experiences including fantastic fillet and sirloin steaks served cooking on hot stones and costing a very reasonable €22.50 and €19.50 respectively.

For seafood lovers the signature dish is monkfish served with olive tapenade and lemon mash for €22.50.

There will be a lunch and evening/night time menu serving a wide range of tasty dishes, and the kitchen will begin rustling up scrumptious brunch offerings on the weekend in the coming months.

The emphasis for award winning chef Tom Murphy is on offering customers something different to what they can get in other restaurants and gastro pubs in the county.

Food is served from 12.30 p.m. daily. Run by manager Paul McAllister, Le Baginbun will be offering homemade desserts, a great range of drinks, including lip smacking, delicious cocktails on tap, excellent coffee and lovely wines.

In another exciting new venture the Baginbun Lodge hotel is opening across the road from Le Baginbun on May 3 offering modern B&B rooms throughout the year.

The family friendly Baginbun pub will have a sand pit out back which has been smartly renovated, which will keep the children entertained, while parents get to tuck in to some gourmet grub.

Le Baginbun is an ideal place to enjoy great food and while away a few hours - so why not up anchor and drive to the newest dining experience destination in the region.
