Sharon’s wellness day for Cancer Society at Marathon Fitness

-

A LOCAL fitness enthusiast has arranged an action-packed programme of events in the gym she frequents next week as a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society.

Sharon Murphy from Castlebridge is one of the regulars in Marathon Fitness on Redmond Road in Wexford town, and the venue will be a hive of activity on Tuesday, April 30.

Members of the public have been encouraged to organise ‘Dare To Care’ fundraisers for cancer on a countrywide basis, and there will be something for everyone in the Marathon Fitness wellness day.

The event will begin bright and early, with meditation with Damien at 8 a.m.

After tea and coffee at 9 a.m., Jason Kehoe will conduct a TRX session at 9.30 a.m.

Dancing with Declan will follow at 10.30 a.m., and if you prefer something on the less strenuous side, there will be Indian head massage with Karen at the same time.

Pádraig Murphy, an expert in the field, will be on hand at 11.30 a.m. for a talk on fitness, nutrition and all that goes with it, while there will be yoga at 12 noon.

Valerie Redmond will supervise a pilates session at 1 p.m., and throughout the time there will be a physio, Craig Hore, on site to provide treatments.

As well as tea and coffee, Ruth from Rake of Cakes will be on hand with an array of healthy snacks and treats.

The emphasis for the event is to have fun while supporting a worthy cause and, with that in mind, organiser Sharon Murphy has encouraged the public to pop in at any time, and a bring a friend or two. Children will be more than welcome, with plenty to keep them occupied.

If anyone is interested in getting involved in any of the events, or would simply like to make a donation towards the Irish Cancer Society, then please contact Sharon on 087-9484544.
