Clonegal Kildavin BEN MARKEY’S STORY
This year’s ‘ To Be Continued…2019’ is Ben Markey’s story called ‘The Wash Away Goblins’.
Pupils of Clonegal and Kildavin NS were invited to write the ending (500 words max) for the story started by the late Ben Markey, who tragically passed away in 2013. Congratulations to the four young authors who had their stories published in the book: Clonegal NS Abbie Gray, Salima Currey-Nurdin, Lia Dunne and Oisin Caulfield. The 18 sixth class pupils worked on a collaborative ending and their collaborative work was published. Kildavin N.S Niamh Cox, Stacey Binions and Sophie Byrne. The presentation of books took place in Our Lady of Lourdes NS on Wednesday, April 10. All of the authors received three copies of the book.
DEEPEST SYMPATHY
Clonegal, Kildavin, Kilbride and the wider community has been struck by three sudden deaths within the area recently. The news broke of the tragic passing of the late Michael (Mickey) Dunne, Clonegal, who passed away on Thursday, April 4.
Mickey is sadly missed my his loving wife Phil, daughters Brigid and Siobhán, son Michael, brothers and sisters Ben, Anne and Johnny, grandchildren Joe and Lillie, son-in-law Richard, cousin John, sisters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposed from his home on Saturday and Sunday. Removal to St Brigid’s Church, Clonegal for Funeral Mass followed by burial afterwards in the New Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
The community was saddened to hear the death of the late Nellie Doyle (née Weafer), Kilbride, who passed away peacefully at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny on Sunday night, April 14. Pre-deceased by her brother Brendan and Sister Annamay. Sadly missed by her husband Martin, children Kathleen, Martin, AnneMáire, Helen, Michael, Paddy and Amanda, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters Pat, Mick, Chris, John, Phyllis, Ger, Martin, Bernie, Oliver and Joe, brothers-in-law, sisters-inlaw, nephews, nieces, relatives, kind neighbours and friends. Reposed at home on Tuesday and Wednesday. Removal to St Lazarian’s Church, Kildavin, for Funeral Mass followed by burial afterwards Kildavin Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
The community was shocked and saddened to hear the death of the late John Doyle Monaughrim, Clonegal, who tragically passed away following a work accident on Monday, April 15. Pre-deceased by the late Bab and John. John is sadly missed by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughters Shauna and Rachel, sisters Margaret and Eileen, brother Pat, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many good friends. Reposed at his home on Tuesday and Wednesday. Removal on Thursday morning, to Brigid’s Church, Clonegal for Funeral Mass followed by burial afterwards adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.
GAA LOTTO
There was no winner of the Kildavin-Clonegal GAA lotto held on Sunday, April 14. Numbers drawn were 01, 05, 13 and 16. Winners that match three were: Mary Kavanagh, The Mill; Eimear Harrington, Craan; Tiernan Brennan; Bob Lambert, Raheengraney; Suzanne Murphy, Kildavin and Angela Kavanagh, Kildavin, all receiving €25 each. Seller’s prize goes to Marty Murphy, receiving €50. The next draw will take place in Osborne’s Lounge, Clonegal on Sunday, April 28, at 10.30 p.m., with a jackpot worth €8,800.
