Crannford Monaseed CRAANFORD-MONASEED COMMUNITY CHILDCARE

Craanford-Monaseed Community Childcare Services will hold its AGM on Tuesday, May 21, at 8 p.m. in Craanford Community Centre. All parents must attend AGM to register child for September 2019. All parents who attend AGM and who already have a child in Playschool will be given priority if MAX capacity is reached.

PARISH OFFICE

Craanford-Monaseed parish is open Monday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the former IT Centre in Craanford Community Centre. Thanks to the management committee of the centre for giving us this space. We are delighted to welcome Brian Levingston­e to work in the office. There is an opportunit­y to do the split the pot there. Notes for the newsletter should be left into the office or emailed to craanfordl­ocalnews@gmail.com. Parish Certificat­es (Baptismal, Confirmati­on and Marriage) are available by filling out a request form (A €5 donation is invited for this service). Mass Cards are available in the office and from Doyle’s Londis, Carnew Road, or from the Vestry or Parochial House the minimum Mass stipend recommende­d is €5 (including card).

The OsKaRs community fundraisin­g initative will take place over the next few months culminatin­g in a star studded event in late September when coveted awards will be handed out to those who shine on the big screen, why not get involved, it promises to be a most entertaini­ng event. On the screening night you can sit back and relax and bask in the spotlight without any nerves to worry about.

Run with Ray will take place on Sunday, May 26. Always a great community day.

NURTURE AFRICA

Laura Byrne, a teacher in Monaseed National School, is travelling to Uganda in July to work as a volunteer teacher with Nurture Africa. She is holding a coffee morning in Monaseed Hall on Sunday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help raise funds for the charity. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.

Craanford Parish split-thepot Friday, April 12: The prize of €169 was won by Josie Kinsella a regular at bingo and the Easter egg was won by Anne Kinsella, another bingo regular. Thanks to Liz Kenny and Liz Byrne, who arranged the draw.

VISITATION OF THE SICK

We are anxious to visit those who cannot celebrate Mass with us due to illness, handicap or age. Arrangemen­ts to receive the sacraments at home can be made by calling Fr Richard or Fr Felix. St Patrick’s School Bohreen Hill, Ennniscort­hy will hold a church gate collection on the weekend of the 27th and 28th Of April.

THANK YOU

The Cystic Fibrosis would like to thank everyone who generously donated outside Craanford and Monaseed Mass on April 13 and 14 to the Cystic Fibrosis Associatio­n. The church gate collection in Monaseed came to €238.75 and Craanford came to €159.02 totalling a very generous €397.77 which has been handed over to the Cystic Fibrosis Associatio­n where it will be put to great use.

CONGRATULA­TIONS - Our Club person of the year nomination is Betty Shortle. Betty has been an asset to the club for a long number of years now. From fundraisin­g to First Aid duties and many other skills Betty always has the clubs best interest at heart. She is definitely deserving of our nomination as club person of the year. Betty will now go forward to a night in Gorey in November this year more details will follow.

RESULTS - Congratula­tions are extended to our Rackard League boys on their progressio­n to semi-final stage, well done but hard luck to the girls in their QF match.

Our Intermedia­te and Junior A hurlers were in action last weekend. Intermedia­te’s finished strongly to win against Our Lady’s Island CF 2-11 OLI – 10 however the Junior A hurlers lost by two points, CF 1-12 St Fin – 17. Our under-eights travelled to Croke Park for the annual Littlewood­s Go Games, thanks to all who look after them so well.

Under-nine are busy with blitzes while the qualifiers for the Féile will take place on Sunday morning in Craanford, best of luck to all. The Intermedia­te Hurlers are out V Rathnure on Saturday at 2 p.m. while on Sunday Junior A hurlers will play Kilmore. See Facebook for updates on fixtures.

CAR PARK

Well done to all involved it’s looking great. Please remember reverse parking is in operation and a one way system. This is in the best and safest interest for all our kids using pitch grounds.

Monamolin SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Sunderland family, Mounthowar­d on the death of Michael’s (Mick) wife Jolie, who died during the week. Her funeral Mass took place on Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. in Monamolin with burial after to the adjoining cemetery, May she RIP.

ST PATRICK’S SPECIAL SCHOOL

St Patrick’s Special School Bohreen Hill Enniscorth­y will hold its church gate collection in Monamolin on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28.

All money collected will stay in the school to benefit the special needs pupils in the school, Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

COFFEE EVENING

A coffee evening and cake sale in aid of parish funds will take place on Saturday, April 27, in Monamolin Community Hall from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets cost €5 and there will be a door prize and raffle on the night. All support will be appreciate­d. Tickets are available from committee members or our local shop.

BUFFERS ALLEY

Our underage nursery re-commences on Saturday, April 26, at 10.am in Buffers Alley for boys and girls (4-6 years) swings into action. Contact Séamus Kavanagh on (086 8511036) for more details. Everyone welcome to come along for a morning of fun.

Underage hurl donation. Coiste na nÓg would be very grateful if any unused underage hurls could be donated back to the club (in particular for the younger age groups – e.g. u5/ under-six/under-seven). Hurls may be donated at u5/under-seven trainings on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m., given to any mentors at any underage level or by contacting the coaching officer Séamus Kavanagh (086 8511036).

U5 and under-seven Hurling and Football coaching has re-commenced and takes place on Saturdays at. 10 a.m. in Buffers Alley. Now that the dark, wet and cold days are disappeari­ng, our Nursery coaches are also busy preparing to get the ball rolling again. Club Clean Up - The club is organising a ‘summer clean-up’ with the indoor area scheduled for Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. and the outdoor area for the following Monday, April 29, at 7 p.m. This annual event ensures that the club grounds are looking good for all upcoming events and games. All welcome to come along and bring any equipment/ materials that would assist with this project.

MODEL COUNTY TICKETS

Buffers Alley/Wexford GAA Model Co tickets are due to be returned to the clubhouse on Thursday next, April 25, between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. This is a great opportunit­y for all families to win very attractive prizes. In total there are 50 prizes for each of the three monthly draws. Over the past number of years Buffers Alley members have been extremely lucky and were in the winners’ enclosure on many occasions. Tickets cost €50 for the three draws which will take place on May 1; May 29 and June 26. Tickets are available from club members or from the Co-Ordinator, Michael Sinnott (Kilmuckrid­ge). This draw is beneficial to our area as a high percentage of sales are retained by our club.
