Culleton in blistering form

Three top-three finishes has Mark joint top in Mondello

-

ALL roads led to Mondello Park in April as local boy Mark Culleton made his way up the M9 to join the best in the country for the first round of the Dunlop Irish Masters Superbike Championships.

Mark debuted last season in the Pre Injection category with possibly the most colourful bike on the grid - his bright pink Yamaha R6.

During his first year, Mark, whose plan was to get to grips with the circuit, even managed his very first podium coming home in third place towards the end of the season.

Would 2019 yield the results that Mark had been working hard to try and achieve? It all got off to a good start on race weekend as Mark kept the pressure at the front with a blistering time of 59.584 to take the second space on the front row for race one and being only one of four riders to break the coveted one-minute mark.

As race one got under way it was clear to see the improvements from time and effort put in were evident as he picked up a podium in his first race equalling his haul last season after one race.

Mark was full of confidence for race two on the Sunday morning after a solid run the day before and it paid off when he shaved a second off his lap time flying around in 58:505 and giving himself that all important very first win at Mondello.

The final race of the weekend took place on the Sunday afternoon and what a finish it was from Mark.

Last season, Mark secured 1 podium finish which was a feat in itself but in one weekend alone it was as easy as 1, 2, 3 as he secured three top-three finishes to put him joint top on the leaderboard after weekend one!

As everyone knows the world of Superbikes is a very costly one and Mark would not be in the position he is in only for his dedicated sponsors Liam O’Shea Tyres and Servicing, Howlett Auto Developments, SJC Autos, Alushield Glazing, Acemotorfactors.ie and of course the number 1 fan Natalie.
