ALZHEIMER’S TEA DAY

The national Alzheimers Tea Day is on Thursday, May 2, and will be taking place at May D’Arcy’s house Ballyfad from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle and cake sale on the day. Your support would be much appreciate­d.

WHIST

First lady was Eilish Murphy, second lady was Freda Doyle, third lady was Eithne Kelly and half time lady was Alice Gibney. First gent was Pat Doyle, second gent was Peg Byrne, third gent was Nancy Forde and half time gent was Marie Cushe. Student winner was Ross Bailey. Raffle winners were Peg McDonald, Bernie Walsh and Mary McCarthy. Whist continues on Wednesday night at 8.30 p.m.

GAA CLUB NOTES

So many teams of the week. The boys under-14 Hurlers are through to the Féile Final on Sunday, May 5, in Patrick’s Park at 12.30 v St James. The girls under-14 football team are through to their Féile semi-final (date tbc). and what about the girls under-12 team who played three short games in Croke Park – and won them all. Rumour has it that Mayo have been on to the mentors for their secret.

Games this week: Tuesday, April 30 – under-13 Hurling in Monageer. Saturday, May 4, to May 1 adult hurlers in New Ross at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, to May 2 Hurlers in the Rock v Kilmore at 3 p.m.

TIDY TOWNS

Kilanerin Tidy towns is now in full swing now that Spring is here. Clean up each Saturday morning. Meet at the Shamrock Hall parking area work for the time that suits your schedule. All tools, gloves and Hi-Vis vests provided, Come out one day or many all helpers all ages are very welcome. Planting, watering assistance with many maintenanc­e projects also getting going.

CHARITY AFTERNOON TEA @ LAVENDER FARM

This Sunday May 5 from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Wexford Lavender Farm in Coolnagloo­se is hosting a delicious Afternoon Tea with homemade cakes, sandwiches, treats and a glass of fizz and live music from the Cantabile Choir. All proceeds raised will go towards Moira’s Moonwalk challenge on May 11 Breast Cancer research. Entry: €14 per person
