CTEC secures nearly €400k for women’s training

-

THE Community Training and Education Centre (CTEC) in Wexford has secured almost €400,000 in funding to provide training for women not on the live register.

Following on from their successful Programme for Employment, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) delivered between 2017 and 2019, which resulted in 72% of students gaining employment, CTEC has once again been successful in applying for ESF PEIL grants. This time, two grants have been secured - one for Healthcare and Childcare training and one for Enterprise development.

‘CTEC is delighted to receive such a significant amount of funding,’ said CTEC Manager Patricia Howlin. ‘It allows us to provide free training for women not on the live register who find it almost impossible to source funding for training elsewhere.’

The funding is aimed at women who are not on the live register and CTEC is now recruiting women to start QQI level 5 Health Service Skills and QQI level 6 Early Childhood Care and Education, major awards qualifications required to work in the Healthcare and Childcare sectors. Women who are in receipt of a carer’s, lone parent or disability allowance are eligible for this programme. The course is totally free will be delivered one day per week. Students will also receive Patient Moving and Handling and Occupational First Aid training - free of charge.

Women interested in starting their own business are also being sought for the Enterprise Programme and again it’s aimed at those not on the live register who would like to develop their own business idea.

The courses will begin towards the end of the month and recruitment is starting immediately.

If you are interested in either of these free programmes contact CTEC on 053 9121036 or email info@ctecwexford.ie.
