North End win goal-fest

FAI Junior Cup

North End United went on a scoring spree on Sunday as they saw off Killeshin 11-5 in the third round of the FAI Junior Cup.

Adam Beary topped the scoring charts with four goals, while Kyle Dempsey added a double and Paul ‘Spot’ Murphy, Dale Flynn, Ciarán Carthy, Gary Delaney and Alan Rhodes grabbed one apiece.

Gorey Rangers were also in free-scoring form as they ran out comprehens­ive 6-1 winners over Vale Wanderers.

Joe Bolger helped himself to a hat-trick for the north county men, while Dylan Vickers added a double and Ryan Cullen also got in on the act.

Courtown Hibs also chalked up an impressive victory, winning 7-2 away to Dolmen Celtic with Des Wolohan bagging a hat-trick, Jake Cassidy adding a double, and Glen Hughes and Wes Fitzpatric­k scoring a goal apiece.

Shamrock Rovers bowed out, losing 3-0 to a strong Freebooter­s side, while Corach Ramblers, Bridge Rovers and Crossabeg suffered the same fate.

Niall Harney got the goal for Ramblers in their 2-1 loss to Crettyard United, Kevin Murphy bagged a double for Bridge in their 4-2 defeat to Newpark FC, while Crossabeg lost to Bridge United by the same scoreline, with Davie Fenlon and Conor Maddock getting their goals.

Elsewhere, Wexford Bohs overcame Curracloe 4-2 in an all-Wexford clash (see focus match).

LFA Junior Shield

Duncannon FC marched on in the LFA

Junior Shield by getting the better of AUL outfit Beggsboro FC after extra-time on Sunday.

The seasiders ran out 4-2 winners, with Devin Wall-Walsh (two), Aaron Curry and Robbie Barron grabbing their goals.

Shelburne United also needed extra-time to progress, with Ciarán O’Connor grabbing the only goal of the game as they edged out Killenagh Wanderers.

Keith Murphy bagged a brace and Ryan Murphy also hit the back of the net as Forth Celtic won 3-0 away to St. Joseph’s, while Ajax Athletic also won on their travels, seeing off Abbeyleix 2-1 with goals from Liam Moore and Adam Fox.

Luke Redmond, Paul Dempsey and Eoghan Kehoe got the goals for Ballymurn Celtic in their 3-1 win over Fastnet Rovers.

Camolin Celtic suffered the heartache of a penalty shoot-out defeat away to Loughshinn­y United after a 2-2 draw. Glen Carton and Sam Kehoe got their goals.

Cloughbawn lost 3-0 away to Wayside Celtic, while All Blacks suffered a 1-0 defeat to Skryne Tara.

Premier Division

Moyne Rangers got the defence of their Premier Division crown up and running with a hard-fought victory over Bunclody on Sunday.

Lee Jordan grabbed the only goal of the game to earn the champions their first victory of the campaign.

Campile United and Cloughbawn shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw, with Graham ‘Dax’ Howlin and Jamie Myler netting for the hosts, and Páidí Cullen and Callen Morrissey replying.
