ClonegalKi­ldavin HALLOWEEN FANCY DRESS PARTY

Ben Mulhall Park Associatio­n and Derry Rovers Soccer Club, second annual Halloween Fancy Dress Party, will be held this Saturday, October 26, in Dunne’s Lounge, Clonegal from 9 p.m. Prizes for best costume, door prize and raffle prizes on the night. DJ music by the one and only PJ White. Tickets are only €5 and purchased from Ben Mulhall committee, Derry Soccer Club or you can buy on the night. Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner or online winner of the Kildavin-Clonegal GAA lotto held on Sunday, October 13. Numbers drawn were 20, 21, 24 and 27. No match-three winners, lucky-dip winners were Thomas Rice, Bagenalsto­wn, C. B. B Byrne and Deirdre Mernagh, Kildavin, receiving €50 each. The next draw will take place in Ryan’s ‘The Moss House, Bunclody on Monday, October 28, at 10.30 p.m., with a jackpot worth €10,000 with a reserve jackpot of €3,200. Tickets €2 each.

SCHOOLS ON BREAK

Clonegal and Kildavin National School will close their doors for the Halloween break on Friday afternoon. Both Schools will reopen on Monday, November 4.

UPCOMING SCHOOLS EVENTS

The Clonegal NS Halloween Walk will take place at Huntington Castle on Friday, October 25. Pupils can come to school dressed up in their Halloween Costumes.

Shoe Box Appeal: Children usually fill the shoeboxes during the Halloween break. Please note, these boxes are collected early in November.

The Kildavin NS Halloween ‘Witch Walk’ will take place on Friday, October 25, at 9.30 a.m. Friends and family are welcome to join in the fun.

HUNTINGTON CASTLE HALLOWEEN TOURS.

Huntington Castle will be opening its doors this Saturday, October 26, to Wednesday, October 31, for their new bigger and better Halloween Tours. Family tours only for under-12s between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. All tickets must be booked through Failte Ireland Tourist Informatio­n Offices. The candlelit tour will last approximat­ely 35 minutes and will run daily. Tickets cost €8.95 for under-12s and €7.95 for adults. Please note: there are no adults and teenager tours this year. Tearoom and shop will be open with lots of ghostly treats so come along and enjoy the spookiest time of year.

WINTER TIME COMMENCES

The Crablane Vintage Club’s eighth annual Road Run on Sunday, October 27, starting from the Crablane at 1 p.m. Proceeds will go to Ardeen Cheshire Home, Shillelagh. Music by Stacey Breen at 10 p.m. Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

ClonrocheP­oulpeasty CLOUGHBAWN GAA ‘THE CHASER’

Cloughbawn GAA Club will launch the new nationwide show ;The Chaser their major fundraiser for this year on Wednesday, October 30, at 8 p.m. in the Cloughbawn GAA Complex, Castleboro.

The Chaser is run on a nationwide scale by Pallas Marketing. Each of the six contestant­s selected can win €1,500 at the show on Saturday 30 th November 2019 in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboo­la. Contestant­s are drawn from the audience and answer seven questions with four possible answers valued at €100, €200, €300, €400, €600, €800, €1,000. The ones in red are milestones contestant must choose after each question if they wish to bank the amount won or take another question. Contestant­s have two lifelines ‘Ask the audience’ and ‘Take one’ which will reduce the number of answers by one. Each lifeline can be used once. Contestant­s then take the amount won to face the Chaser. They start on step five and Chaser starts on step seven. Chaser will offer 150% of amount won to take step nearer or 30% of amount won to take a step nearer home.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards improving and promoting.

Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and culture in our community. The organising committee extends an open welcome to all to attend the launch.

The show will be launched by two Wexford senior hurlers Harry Kehoe and Connal Flood. The Bob O’Keefe Cup will also be in attendance. You will also get a sneak preview of the show. advance and will not be on sale at the door on the night so people are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.

Clothes Recycling Drive – Rathnure NS parents’ associatio­n are having a Clothes Recycling Drive to help raise funds for our school. Please donate all your new and used men’s, women’s and children’s clean unwanted clothing, shoes and linens. Mobile phones are accepted also but please place in a separate bag. The collection date is Tuesday, November 5. Please deliver items to the school gate on Tuesday the fifth before 10 a.m.

Sing Out Loud – Best of luck to the third, fourth, fifth and sixth class pupils who will take part in the Sing Out Loud event in the National Opera House in November.

Halloween Disco There will be a Spooky Kids Halloween Disco in Rathnure hall on Wednesday, October 30, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Prizes for best fancy dress. Lots of fun and games for all the kids and a visit from some spooky special guests.

ST ANNE’S GAA CLUB

Busy Bees is back up and running each Saturday morning from 9.30 a.m. to 10.15 a.m.

Club lotto – The numbers drawn last Tuesday the 15th were 10, 13, 21 and 24. No jackpot winner. There were three matchthree winners who won €67 each. Jackpot this week: €15,000.

SHOEBOX APPEAL

Shoebox Appeal is a nice thing to do for children in poorer places. Choose from the following ideas – Write (items for school): pencils, colouring pencils, copy books, colouring books, sharpeners. Wash (hygiene items): toothbrush, toothpaste, facecloth, soap, hairbrush. Wear (small clothing items): hat, scarf, gloves, underwear, socks. Wow (a treat): toy, sweets, cuddly toy, torch, tennis ball. You could easily fill a box from Dealz for under €12. €4 is required with the return of each shoebox. CRAFT FAIR

The Rathnure Craft Fair takes place on Sunday, November 3, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in John Kelly Hall, Rathnure. Admission is free and there will be beautiful craft stalls, face painting and balloon modelling by ‘SLAM, tea and coffee and a raffle on the day.

The event is in aid of Diabetes Wexford supporting children with diabetes.

STORYTELLI­NG

Next session of storytelli­ng is in Castledock­rell hall on Thursday, November 21, at 8 p.m. It is a lovely way to spend the longer evenings. Refreshmen­ts served and a raffle held on the night.

NOISE LEVELS

Some areas of the parish have been experienci­ng noise at night up to midnight in some cases with lorries racing along the road in one area. In another area vehicles with engines running late into the night.

MASS TIMES

Weekend Masses in the parish are as follows Saturday in Marshalsto­wn at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday in Castledock­rell at 10 a.m. Please note also that baptisms in both Marshalsto­wn and Castledock­rell are on Saturdays.

SOCIAL DANCE

The next Social Dance in Marshalsto­wn is on Friday, November 22. Doors open at 9.30 p.m. and dancing starts at 10 p.m. Admission including tea is €8.
