Forth Celtic on fire

Double hat-trick for ice-cool Siggins

-

FORTH CELTIC continued their winning start to the Premier Division season when overcoming newly-promoted Courtown Hibs 10-0.

The game was much closer than this scoreline would suggest, but Celtic’s clinical finishing was the main difference, with Sarah Siggins being particularly accurate as she knocked in six.

Lynn Marie Grant, Rianna Cullen, Sarah Harding-Kenny and Natasha Byrne-Rossiter also got their names on the scoresheet.

Ferns United got back to winning ways when they eventually overcame a hard-working North End United side 2-0, with Aoife Devereux and Rachel Collier the goalscorers.

In Division 1, Kilmore travelled to Tombrack and eventually broke down the home side and came away 5-0 winners with goals from Emily Bates, Lisa Power and Chloe Troy, while Róisín Furlong scored twice.

Amanda Murphy was on target for Camolin Celtic, but two goals from Sal Eustace and a hat-trick from Niamh Miller gave Corach a 5-1 victory and all three points.

Division 2 saw Fastnet overcome St. Cormac’s 4-1, with Jane Kelly, Triona Kelly and two goals from Becky Furlong making up Rovers’ tally, while the visitors’ goal came from a defensive error.

The big game in this division saw Kiltealy Celtic overcome Bunclody 2-1 in a tense, exciting, hard-fought local derby.

Celine Slye was on target for Bunclody, but goals from Alma Morris and Rachel Casey gave Celtic an important three points.

The first all-Enniscorthy local derby in many years saw Ajax make the short journey to Enniscorthy United, and their experience showed as they ran out 8-1 winners.

Teagan Dobbs scored for United, but two goals each from Chloe O’Brien-Cashe and Ciara Tobin plus one apiece from Claire Miller, Kaitlin Larkin, Jenny Rothwell and Anne Marie Murphy gave Ajax the win.

Shelburne travelled to Cushinstown and stayed in contention for the title with a 3-0 win, with Ella Foley, Gina Foley and Eimear Murphy all finding the net in this local derby.
