CLOUGHBAWN GAA ‘THE CHASER’

Cloughbawn GAA Club will launch the new nationwide show ; The Chaser their major fundraiser for this year on Wednesday, October 30, at 8 p.m. in the Cloughbawn GAA Complex,

Castleboro. The Chaser is run on a nationwide scale by Pallas Marketing. Each of the six contestant­s selected can win €1,500 at the show on Saturday 30 th November 2019 in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboo­la.

Contestant­s are drawn from the audience and answer seven questions with four possible answers valued at €100, €200, €300, €400, €600, €800, €1,000. The ones in red are milestones contestant must choose after each question if they wish to bank the amount won or take another question. Contestant­s have two lifelines ‘Ask the audience’ and ‘Take one’ which will reduce the number of answers by one. Each lifeline can be used once. Contestant­s then take the amount won to face the Chaser. They start on step five and Chaser starts on step seven. Chaser will offer 150% of amount won to take step nearer or 30% of amount won to take a step nearer home.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards improving and promoting Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and culture in our community. The organising committee extends an open welcome to all to attend the launch.

The show will be launched by two Wexford senior hurlers Harry Kehoe and Connal Flood. The Bob O’Keefe Cup will also be in attendance. You will also get a sneak preview of the show. advance and will not be on sale at the door on the night so people are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.

DONARD NS

Best of luck to our boys and girls Rackard League football teams who will play in District finals on Wednesday, November 6. This is a great achievemen­t for all the boys and girls from Donard NS and Clonroche NS.

Music Generation – Pupils are enjoying music lessons with traditiona­l musician Orla. Pupils will have eeks of tin-whistle lessons with a performanc­e at the end.

Living Arts Project – Senior pupils are exploring the themes of ‘Biodiversi­ty’ and ‘Native Flora and fauna’ with artists Deirdre and Jenni through the medium of print.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Many thanks to all who contribute­d to the recent local church gate collection­s in the parishes of Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn in aid of the local Community Games. A total of €721 was raised.

Community Games activities for the coming year begin on November November 5. Draughts and Chess classes will take place in Bree Community Centre from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on each Tuesday night. All children from the parishes of Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn under-eight to 15 years are welcome to come along. Cost is €2 per child to a max of €5 per family.

Well done to a very talented Shayne McDonald Poulpeasty, who is part of the Waterford FC under-13 team who progress to the shield final on Saturday, November 2, against Athlone town. Best of luck Shayne.

CLONROCHE DEVELOPMEN­T ASSOCIATIO­N.

With the car park lighting switched on in Clonroche Amenity Park this week the project is nearing first phase competitio­n. The park, a very popular venue for all the community, is used extensivel­y day and night, Walking under the lights after work is proving very popular with people, and with a quiet, safe, and appealing environmen­t why not join them. The park is free and open to all.

We invite visitors from our neighborin­g areas, Courtnacud­dy, Adamstown, Raheen, Davidstown, Poulpeasty, to freely avail of this facility, keep their fitness levels up and make new friends the car park is open from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. every day. Pedestrian­s can enter the park at all times.

If you haven’t visited this seven-acre facility yet, you are cordially invited to take a look. Take your kids or grand kids to play in the Children’s Playground.

COFFEE MORNING

A coffee morning and sale will be held in Clonroche community hall on Friday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to midday in aid of Irish life boats and Killegney Rossdroit parishes. There will be a raffle, cakes, bricabrac, produce, books, bottle stall and much more.

Come and buy your Christmas cards and gifts and stay for a cuppa and a chat. Everyone welcome.
