ALZHEIMERS AWARENESS

Dr Eithne Hartigan from Wexford General Hospital, among others, will be giving a talk on Alzheimers in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y, on Monday, November 4. This informatio­n session will start at 7 p.m. and will run till 9 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend.

HOPE CENTRE

The Hope Cancer Support Centre would like to invite all those who have been touched by cancer or any other illnesses or loss, to join them at their annual ‘Candle of Hope’ Service on Friday, November 1, in St Aidan’s Cathedral Enniscorth­y at 8 p.m. If you are unable to attend you can still join the prayers by lighting your own candle and listening to South East Radio as the service will broadcast live on air.

GAA NEWS

Hard luck to the under-13 footballer­s who contested the Division 4 football shield in St Patrick’s Park on Thursday last, October 24. After a thrilling game, they found themselves five points behind the eventual winners, Marshalsto­wn on a scoreline of 2-5 to 2-10.

The under-15 hurlers, contesting the Roinn one, shield final on Sunday the 20th., lost out to a skilled and talented Duffry Rovers team after a cracking game. They had beaten a fancied St James’ side to reach this final.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD/EUCHARIST

On Saturday, November 2, at the 8 p.m. Vigil Mass, Catherine Whelan is due to read with Cormac O’Loughlin helping distribute Communion. Mary Gilbride is the reader at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning, November 3, and Lorraine Dempsey is on duty as Minister for the Eucharist.

PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP

The parent and toddler group had great fun on Wednesday last, October 23, when all the children dressed up in preparatio­n for Hallowe’en. This week they will all be taking a rest for the mid-term break and the group will meet up again on Wednesday, November 6, at the usual time.
