Impressive Murrintown side overcome Rovers

Forth Celtic lead the way in the MMI Group Youths Division 1 after a 4-2 win over Bridge Rovers in Murrintown on Saturday.

Celtic now boast a record of four wins and a draw from their five games to date, with Luke Kavanagh (penalty), Callum Gondard, John O’Sullivan and Kieran Morris getting their goals in their most recent victory.

Wicktor Janczy and Keelan Murphy hit the back of the net for Bridge Rovers, who were suffering their first defeat of the campaign.

Enniscorth­y United are hot on Forth Celtic’s heels, however, after making it four wins from four with a 5-2 triumph away to Curracloe United.

Ryan Dobbs scored two free-kicks for the winners, while Ewan Kennedy also helped himself to a brace, with Reece Dobbs grabbing their other goal.

Oisín Furlong and Conor Byrne replied for the seasiders.

Shelburne United made it five from five on Saturday as they edged out Ballymurn Celtic in a hard-fought top of the table clash.

In a game played in dreadful conditions, Shelburne shaded it 3-2, thanks to goals from Jamie O’Rourke, Conor Lyng and Gary Porter.

Connor King and Ashley Kubaba got on the scoresheet for Ballymurn.

Patrick Kavanagh and Sam Carroll got the goals for Gorey Celtic as they won 2-0 in Camolin, while Tombrack United ran out handsome winners away to local rivals Ferns United.

Tommy Atkinson topped the scoring charts in their 7-1 win with a hat-trick, while Evan Maher, Josh McMullan, Jack White and Harry Fitzgibbon added a goal apiece.
