CLOUGHBAWN GAA CLUB

Cloughbawn GAA Club are first to bring ‘The Chaser’ to Wexford. Cloughbawn GAA Club will launch the new nationwide show, The Chaser, their major fundraiser for this year, on Wednesday, October 30, at 8 p.m. in the Cloughbawn GAA Complex, Castleboro. The Chaser is run on a nationwide scale by Pallas Marketing. Each of the six contestant­s selected can win €1,500 at the show on Saturday, November 30, in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboo­la. Contestant­s are drawn from the audience and answer seven questions with four possible answers valued at €100, €200, €300, €400, €600, €800, €1,000. The ones in red are milestones contestant must choose after each question if they wish to bank the amount won or take another question. Contestant­s have two lifelines ‘Ask the audience’ and ‘Take one’ which will reduce the number of answers by one. Each lifeline can be used once. Contestant­s then take the amount won to face the Chaser. They start on step five and Chaser starts on step seven. Chaser will offer 150% of amount won to take step nearer or 30% of amount won to take a step nearer home. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards improving and promoting Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and culture in our community. Tickets are now on sale from any committee member

Congratula­tions are in order for the intermedia­te team and their managers. Cloughbawn beat HWH Bunclody in a close fought game in Innovate Wexford Park, on Sunday, October 27, Bunclody fought hard and stay in touch through out the game but Cloughbawn dug deep and pulled away in the last quarter of the game, finishing up 3-14 to 0-17. Captain Alan Carton received the Jim Morrissey Cup to a large crowd of Cloughbawn supporters. Man of the match was won by Tomas Furlong, a very deserving winner.

The team are playing Naas in the Quarter Final of the Leinster championsh­ip on Saturday in Bellefield.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot of €10,000 at the recent draw, Numbers were 1, 10, 28 and 30. Nancy Foley, Coolaught, was the only match-three winner. Next draw is November 8 in the Boro Inn, with the Green team on duty: D Flood, K Flood I and PJ Dempsey and Vera Murphy.

SYMPATHY

We extend our sympathy to the Tyrrell family Clonleigh on the death Sheila Tyrrell (née Doyle), beloved wife of the late Paddy, dearly loved mother of Patrick, Michéal, Phillip, Margo, Mary and Oliver and sister of the late Michael, John and Mary. Sadly missed by her loving sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchild­ren, brother-in-law Eugene, sisters-in-law Betty and Phyllis, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
