BUNCLODY BUSINESS LAUNCH

Tom Enright, Chief Executive Wexford County Council, will launch bunclodybu­siness.com, the new business to business website for businesses in the Bunclody area.

The website will launch will take place at a business networking event on Thursday, November 14, at 7 p.m. in River’s Edge, Bunclody and all those with an business interest in the area are invited to attend.

The night will also feature four local business telling a little of their business story and there will be an opportunit­y for questions and answers. They are Blackstair­s Web Design, Star Content, O’Connell Marketing and SingaCare, Bunclody. All businesses from the wider Bunclody area and the hinterland are encouraged to come along.

The aim of BunclodyBu­siness.com is to build a sense of community around businesses in Bunclody, encourage B2B networking, and share news and updates on what’s happening in our town and district. The new website will feature a listing for every business, activity and community group in the area.

The site will also be regularly updated with news and updates on what’s happening in the town. Log on to bunclodybu­siness.com to complete your free online listing. You can include a descriptio­n of your business as well as a link to your website and social media so it’s a great way of promoting your business for free. You will also be able to share news about your business, products, services or activities by directly uploading them to the site.

BUNCLODY/KILMYSHALL DRAMA GROUP

There’s no rest at all for Bunclody-Kilmyshall Drama Group, who work hard to keep you all entertaine­d. Hot on the heels of their recent oneact play, the group is presenting their latest production from Tuesday, November 12, to Saturday, November 16, in Bunclody Golf and Fishing Club, at 8 p.m. nightly.

The Memory of Water is a comedy-drama written by Sheelagh Stephenson about three sisters coming together on the eve of their mother’s funeral.

The friction and misunderst­andings that emerge throughout the evening generate comic moments as the sisters work though their differing memories of past events and childhood and ultimately bring the sisters closer.

The play is directed by Tommy Murphy and the cast are Josephine Byrne, Elaine Jordan, Sinéad O’Gorman, Margaret Farrell, Stephen Finn and John McGarrigle. The play won the Laurence Olivier award for best new comedy when first performed and is guaranteed to charm and amuse audiences. Tickets can be booked at 087 2269737.

RADON MONITORS AVAILABLE TO BORROW

The EPA Radiologic­al Office will hold a talk in Bunclody Library on Radon during Wexford Science Festival on Thursday, November 14, at 7 p.m. Stephanie Long from the EPA will give the talk.

As part of this event we are launching a new project for us, in collaborat­ion with the EPA, to Borrow a digital radon monitor from your library. Bunclody and County Wexford is the first location for this in Ireland.

The digital radon monitors can be borrowed from the library, as you borrow a book.

You borrow for three weeks and return. In that three weeks you can see by the reading, if your house is radon free or what levels are being recorded.

And of course the EPA can be very easily contacted if people have queries or concerns from what they are learning. There is a 24-hour help line where immediate queries can be dealt with, more complex queries aim to be followed up in the working day by the EPA.

There will be 20 monitors for loan in Bunclody Library. Please contact the library for details.

Have you tested your home for radon and found that the levels are higher than they should be?

Maybe you are not sure what you should do next to reduce your family’s exposure to this carcinogen? This talk will explain how you can check whether the levels in your home are still high by borrowing a digital monitor from Bunclody library and what you should do next.

From science week you will be able to take part in a pilot citizen science project and borrow a digital radon monitor, in the same way as you borrow a book, keep it for three weeks and then return it to the library for the next person.

Join Stephanie Long from the EPA Office of Radiation Protection and Environmen­tal Monitoring, who will talk about radon in the area and answer all your questions.

Children’s Events In Bunclody Library: Children’s Book Festival 2019 – Each October, in libraries throughout Wexford, young readers have the opportunit­y to meet some of the best writers, storytelle­rs and illustrato­rs working in Ireland today.

Chroma, is an exciting group of artists, formed in 2018 in Carlow. They had an inaugural exhibition at the Carlow Fringe Arts Festival 2018 in the GB Shaw Room in Carlow Library. Their works span both traditiona­l and contempora­ry approaches and include figurative and semi-abstract landscapes, seascapes and portraitur­e.
