Serious statement of intent from Seaview with victory in Ferns

-

THE BIG game in the quarter-final of the Premier One Shield saw the clash of the big two when Seaview travelled to Ferns and beat the holders 3-0.

Ferns are going through a transition while Seaview have put together a strong squad and could be a strong contender for the Premier title.

Two goals from Keisha Tobin and one from Bríd Kehoe saw the south Wexford side go through to the semi-finals.

North End were far too strong for Camolin Celtic and ran out 9-0 winners, with Chloe Bates netting a hat-trick, Aoife Tormey and Lydia McGrath scoring two each, while Cara McDonald and Emma Clarke contributed with a goal apiece.

Forth Celtic continued their good start to the season as they overcame Division 1 side Bree United 14-1, with Sarah Siggins scoring six for the second game in a row.

Aisling O’Sullivan added a hattrick, with Natasha Byrne-Rossiter getting two, while Sarah Carroll, Laura Stafford and Ruth Hendrick all netted one each.

A most thrilling game saw Courtown Hibs eventually overcome Corach Ramblers to ensure the semi-final line-up is an all Premier affair.

Courtown led 2-1 in injury time, but a very late goal from Corach saw them level to bring the game to extra-time.

Hibs took the lead again in extra-time, but Ramblers were handed another lifeline in the dying seconds when they were awarded a penalty.

However, it was off target and Hibs moved into the last four. Marie Nolan, Alice Harte and Holly Tobin all scored for the winners, while

Niamh Miller and Sal Eustace were on target for Ramblers.

In the Divisional Shield quarter-finals, New Ross Town and Wexford Bohs booked their places in the last four with wins over Bunclody and Shelburne respectively.

Jenny Canning and Kellie O’Neill were on target for Ross in their 2-1 win, with Rachel Murphy replying for Bunclody.

Kate O’Keeffe scored for Shelburne but it was not enough as two goals each from Aoife O’Keeffe and Denise Leniston plus one from Robyn Murphy gave Bohs a 5-1 win.

These two sides will now join Fastnet Rovers and Kiltealy Celtic in the semi-final draw.

Goals from Sarah Merrigan and Shannon McGovern gave Tombrack their first three points of the season in Division 1 as they overcame a young St. Joseph’s side 2-0.

In Division 2, Kiltealy Celtic remain unbeaten as they travelled to St. Cormac’s and came away 3-0 winners courtesy of goals from Nicole Fortune, Clodagh O’Leary and Alma Morris.

Division 3 saw Cushinstown knock 15 past new club Enniscorthy United who are showing improvement with every game but finding it difficult to defend.

Amie Gaffney scored five for the home side, and Joanne Dillon added four, while Ciara Power, Shauna Davitt, Amanda Power, Gemma Creane, Julie Furlong and Sophie Quigley all grabbed one each.

In the other game in the division, goals from Ciara Tobin and Kaitlin Larkin saw Ajax come from 1-0 down to beat All Blacks 2-1.

Next Sunday’s Premier Division action will see North End United hosting Ferns United, while Forth Celtic travel to Seaview United.
