Clonegal-Kildavin GAA LOTTO RESULTS
There was no winner or online winner of the Kildavin-Clonegal GAA lotto held on Sunday, November 2019. Numbers drawn were 10, 11, 12 and 15. Winners that matched three were Anna Murphy, Craan, Jenna Nolan, Kildavin, Joan Lavin, Abbeydown, Brud Murphy, Barragh, Kathleen Dobbs, Ballyshancarragh, Agnes Byrne, Craan and Tom Doyle, Ballinvalley (online), all receiving €25 each. Seller’s prize was Rose Sheil, receiving €50. Next draw will take place in Dunne’s, Clonegal on Sunday, November 24. Jackpot €10,000, reserve jackpot €3,600. Tickets €2 each.
CLONEGAL PARISH SALE
The St Fiaac’s Clonegal Parish Sale will be held on Friday, November 29, at 7 p.m. in St Brigit’s Community Hall, Clonegal. There will be the usual stalls, raffle and tea.
REMEMBRANCE MASS
Families, who have been bereaved in the parish of Clonegal/Kildavin during the past 12 months are invited to the annual Remembrance Mass, which will be celebrated in St Brigid’s Church, Clonegal on Thursday, November 21at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to pray for our departed loved ones and pray with the families who are grieving in our community.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS EXTRAVAGANZA
Residents of Glassheen housing estate, Kildavin are currently setting up a fantastic Christmas lights extravaganza as a fundraising effort for ‘The Hospice Harold’s Cross’. A donation box will be set up shortly at the entrance to the estate. Your support is greatly appreciated.

CHRISTMAS AT DUCKKETT’S GROVE
On Sunday December 8, the magnificent surroundings of Duckett’s Grove Historic House and Walled Gardens will, once again be transformed into Carlow’s very own winter wonderland when it hosts its ever-popular Christmas Food and Craft Fair.

On the craft front visitors can view a range of stands from a variety of fabulous makers featuring jewellery and knitwear, art and embroidery and Christmas cards and decorations. Do not miss the great selection of artisan food producers showcasing a sumptuous array of cakes, puddings, pies, seasonal fruit tarts, jams, chutneys, Carlow cheese, chocolate and hampers! What would Christmas be without children? Santa’s little helpers can enjoy a wealth of activities and fun as Santa Claus is coming to town, bringing a free surprise for each child – there’s also face painting, a giant Santa snow globe to capture those special family memories and Christmas craft making! Clonroche-Poulpeasty CLOUGHBAWN GAA
THE CHASER – Tickets are now on sale for the event of the year ‘The Chaser’, which is run on a nationwide scale by Pallas Marketing. Each of the six contestants selected on the night can win €1,500 at the show on Saturday, November 30, in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola.
Contestants are drawn from the audience and answer seven questions with four possible answers valued at €100, €200, €300, €400, €600, €800, €1,000. The ones in red are milestones contestant must choose after each question if they wish to bank the amount won or take another question.
Contestants have two lifelines ‘Ask the audience’ and ‘Take one’ which will reduce the number of answers by one. Each lifeline can be used once. Contestants then take the amount won to face the Chaser. They start on step five and Chaser starts on step seven. Chaser will offer 150% of amount won to take step nearer or 30% of amount won to take a step nearer home.
The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards improving and promoting Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and culture in our community.

Templeudigan Handball Club held their 37th AGM last Wednesday.

SCIENCE COMES TO CLONROCHE
Roll up, roll up and explore the science behind the thrills and spills of the circus. Dr Ken Farquhar takes you on a voyage of discovery investigating how performers make use of many scientific principles in their tricks and stunts, at Clonroche Community Centre Son unday November 24.
Find out why jugglers love gravity, how clowns use science to avoid hurting themselves and why unicyclists need to keep moving to stay still. It’s science, but not as you may know it. Amazing magic tricks are performed and the math’s revealed. Find out about card tricks, solving the Rubik’s cube under pressure, the math’s of juggling, shape shifting numbers and other astounding stunts and marvellous trickery you can try at home.
This event is free and for adults and Children Dr Ken Farquhar’s work was featured on Teachers TV and in communication publications for scientists. He runs workshops for the science communicators of the future and is an honorary lecturer at the university of East Anglia Niamh Turner will talk about her experience as a woman studying and working in the STEM sector. Graduating from university of Limerick with a degree in Electronics and Manufacturing Technology Niamh and her husband decided to start their own company, to teach young people about coding and technologies. The Killanne Tractor Run will be held this year on Sunday, December 8. Run starts at 1 p.m. with raffle and prizes afterwards in Killanne hall. annual celebration of turning on the Christmas lights will take place on Killanne cross at 5 p.m. on Sunday the eighth also.
This is always a great event with rumours of a special guest appearance on the night.
