CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

Séamus Long will provide the entertainm­ent and the man of the season, Santa Claus himself will switch on the Bunclody Christmas Lights on Saturday, November 30, at Market Square Bunclody.

Entertainm­ent and music by Séamus will be from 4.30 p.m. and Santa will switch on the lights at 5.30 p.m. All are welcome to join us at Market Square to get Bunclody ‘switched on’ for the Christmas season.

BENEATH MY ANGELS WINGS

Beneath My Angels Wings will be hosting a Memorial Service for all in St Aidan’s Cathedral, Enniscorth­y on Wednesday, November 27, at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, December 8, the magnificen­t surroundin­gs of Duckett’s Grove Historic House and Walled Gardens will, once again be transforme­d into Carlow’s very own winter wonderland when it hosts its ever-popular Christmas Food and Craft Fair. This year’s event promises to be more exciting than ever before, boasting a packed line-up of activities, to be enjoyed by all Christmas elves, young and old.

THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club meets on Mondays in Bunclody Day Care Centre. New members are always welcome Throughout the year there will be entertainm­ent, informatio­n sharing, arts/crafts, guest speakers, bingo/ card playing. This Club would suit 60+ age group. Entrance Fee: €4 which includes tea and a light lunch.

If you are a business looking to start up or grow in a new direction this workshop may be of assistance to you. Continuing the series of Work Matters events with business consultant Alan Maher of Maher Consulting, Alan will be here to help and advise people who wish to start or grow their own business. Saturday, November 30, at 11 a.m. Following on from our successful event in August, Slaneyside School of dancing will return with a high energy workshop to introduce your child to various styles of dancing. This workshop is provided by Slaneyside School of dancing, who offers Ballet, Modern, Tap and Jazz lessons.

This event is for five- to 10-year-olds only. Booking is essential as numbers are limited.

Children’s Events In Bunclody Library: Children’s Book Festival 2019 – Each October, in libraries throughout Wexford, young readers have the opportunit­y to meet some of the best writers, storytelle­rs and illustrato­rs working in Ireland today. We look forward to welcoming children, young people, schools and families to enjoy the events and activities on offer in Wexford, Enniscorth­y, New Ross, Bunclody and Gorey Libraries.

Chroma, is an exciting group of artists, formed in 2018 in Carlow. They had an inaugural exhibition at the Carlow Fringe Arts Festival 2018 in the GB Shaw Room in Carlow Library. Their works span both traditiona­l and contempora­ry approaches and include figurative and semi-abstract landscapes, seascapes and portraitur­e. They will be displaying pieces in Bunclody Library throughout October 2019.

RADON MONITORS AVAILABLE TO BORROW

County Wexford Library Service has launched a new project, in collaborat­ion with the EPA, to Borrow a digital radon monitor from your library. Bunclody and County Wexford is the first location for this in Ireland.

The digital radon monitors can be borrowed from the library, as you borrow a book. You borrow for three weeks and return. In that three weeks you can see by the reading, if your house is radon free or what levels are being recorded.

And of course the EPA can be very easily contacted if people have queries or concerns from what they are learning. There is a 24-hour help line where immediate queries can be dealt with, more complex queries aim to be followed up in the working day by the EPA.
