Youths face Kilkenny

Wexford U-18s begin inter-league campaign

-

THE WEXFORD Football League Youths squad will travel to the grounds of Evergreen F.C. this Saturday where they will kick off their FAI Youth Inter-League campaign against Kilkenny. Preparations for the game have gone well to date, with the team training since the beginning of September.

The management are excited about this technically excellent side who have put in fine performances versus a Dublin selection in September, and more recently against the Rosslare Rangers adult Premier Division team a couple of weeks ago.

Four members of the squad - Jack O’Leary, Conor Roche, Cathal Dowd and Jude Bates - represented Leinster this year in the inter-league competition and will hope to bring the benefits of such an experience to the field next Saturday.

Training has been to an excellent standard and the players are relishing kicking off in the campaign this week, so team selection will prove to be a bit of a headache.

Kilkenny were beaten 4-0 by Waterford last weekend while missing a couple of key players, so they will be looking to bounce back and keep themselves alive in the competition against Wexford this Saturday.

It promises to be an exciting game in the excellent facilities of Evergreen F.C.

The squad in full is: Cian Walsh (Adamstown); Adam O’Leary, Darren O’Leary, Corey Lawlor, Ross Proudfoot (Bridge Rovers); Matthew Foley (Campile United); Adam Somers (Cloughbawn FC); Lorcan Breen (Corach Ramblers); Ryan Corrigan (Curracloe United); Kallan Murphy, Tommy Kennedy, Bill Peare (Enniscorthy Town); Finn Bennett (Fastnet Rovers); Cathal Dowd (Forth Celtic); Nathan Byrne (Glynn Barntown); Adam Mackey, Conor Roche, Jude Bates, Callum Bates, Brad Koolhoff (Kilmore United); Rory O’Connor (New Ross Celtic); Joey Jackson, Matej Stepanek (North End United); Jack O’Leary, Cian Byrne (Rosslare Rangers); David Power (Tombrack United); Robbie Molloy-Nolan (Wexford Bohs), Dave Maleady (St. Joseph’s).
