NEW ROSS SENIORS

Heavy rain which caused the course to be closed meant that our weekly outing went by the board on Thursday. Hopefully it will be better weather next week and we can get a game.

All members please note that on Thursday we will hold our A.G.M., commencing at 9.30 a.m. sharp. We intend to have all the business done in time for the draw and tee-off at 10.40 a.m.

Our Christmas outing is scheduled for Thursday, December 5 (weather permitting), and the all-in entry fee of €20 which covers extra prizes and dinner will be collected this Thursday, November 28.

Anyone who cannot be there on Thursday and wishes to play in the outing are invited to contact Jamesie Murphy on 051-421151, or by text or call on 085-1846172 as soon as possible.

We need the numbers for the restaurant of all who wish to avail of the Christmas dinner.

NEWROSS

The course, like the rest of Ireland, has taken a battering from all the recent rainfall which has seen some other courses closing in recent days. However, it is still in remarkable order.

Members can play a part in this continuing by heeding club decisions about buggies and also taking care with trolleys and always repairing pitch marks and divots etc.

Please make sure to check the rules of the day when playing in competitions so as to avoid any confusion on the course.

The A.G.M. will take place in the clubhouse on Friday, December 6, at 7.30 p.m. All members are invited to attend.

A good number of over one hundred golfers took part in round two of the winter league, with strong scoring again.

Results: 1, Richie Aylward (20), 33 points; 2, Mick Kavanagh (17), 32 points (last nine); 3, Mick Butler (10), 32 points; gross, Derek Ronan, 29 points; Cat. 1, Tom Healy (6), 29 points; Cat. 2, Seamus Power (15), 31 points; Cat. 3, Johnny Kinsella (18), 31 points.

Apologies for an error in last week’s results. Martin Murphy was, in fact, the winner, not Mark Murphy. Sincere apologies for any confusion.

Next weekend we have a club-sponsored 16-hole singles stableford competiton for hampers.
